Thanks Eric.
Love the 29er. It smooths out the trail. Feels like a 2 or 3 inch travel XC bike only when you push it ...... it goes!

Funny enough, with all that we spend on our new rides everything on that bike save the fork probably works as well or better than a current 9 speed drivetrain, and even the fork probably works fine

The bikes on this thread are unreal, I really enjoyed going through it. Gorgeous bikes!

Nice! Like the anodized finish, but holy spacer rings batman.
Throw some slicks and a bigger chainring on it for summer I was thinking about trying a 'cross race this fall.

Nice! Are you going to try your hand at some cyclocross in the fall? I know you mainly wanted this bike as a sort of "all purpose" ride which they are great for, but CX looks to be a blast. I am going to work on my skills and try some races this year.

Spacers. That's the way it came, and i probably won't change that, unless I were to do more serious road riding. With the bars that high, it makes it more comfortable for riding the trails, as i found my hands in the drops most of the time. The big ring is a 48, which actually is not too bad for road riding. For now I'll keep it as a cross bike, but yes, it can be converted to a decent roadie with a few minor changes, as you know.

I tend not to do too much racing in the fall, as i am usually busy getting crushed by school work. I don't expect to do any cross racing this season. Any races i sneak into my fall schedule are more likely to be on the mtb.

I took it on a good ride today. Rode the road from my place in the Falls, to St. Catharines. Then proceeded to ride the entire 8x12 course, including the new section for the first time. Then, rode the road back. Probably ~55-60km. It replaced the lake to lake nicely for me today.

2007 Kona Cinder Cone

My first serious bike is more mule than stallion but always gets me to the top of the hill and accepts the typical rookie abuse. That is why I love it.

Stock except for Shimano Clipless Peddles and WTB Shadow V Stealth Saddle. Cataloged as having Rockshox DART 2 but mine came with Marzocchi MZ Race.

Ya there are a couple out on the trails now, but for the price you can't beat it. I don't think I'll every spend $1000+ on a hartail frame ever again. It sucks that the Orbea broke and it sucks even more that I'm getting the run around for warranty. As for the sid, it's noticeably stiffer then last years model, I'm really happy with it.

Thanks Jamis : Your Team frame is the one I wanted but I ended up with the
cleared raw aluminum .
It was a frame warranty exchange for my Jekyll .
Why the Jamis and the Rush ?
They're pretty much the same style of bike .

The Jamis was my first bike, I rushed into it and I soon realized the frame was bigger than I needed...then a good deal came up on the rush, was a medium so i picked it up. One of my friends started riding the Jamis and I can't bring myself to sell it now, we have some good rides.

Our New Stable

We have 3 new additions to our stable. Unfortunately we had to put one down. I broke my ETSX frame but I've been told it's a defective design.

I purchashed a KHS XC 909 w/full XTR kit and Spinergy wheels. John has a new Ellsworth Epiphany w/Cobalt blue wheels and full bling.

We also lucked out w/a great deal on a 1995 Ti Kona Hei Hei with a Ritchie carbon fork and 1st Generation XTR kit with 700C wheels on an orignal Hugi hub.

They had to teach me how to shift, lets just leave it at that.

I'm sure I can handle it, until I have to do maintenance that is...

After a few mods

Here's my ride after a few mods. EA50 Bar, Stem and Seatpost were replaced with an Easton EC90 Monkeylite SL Riser Bar, a Thomson Elite X4 Stem, a Thomson Elite seatpost, and the WTB Silverado saddle with a Selle Italia SLR XC Gelfow Ti saddle. The Hutchinson Pirahna Air Light's were swapped out for Panaracer XC Fire Pro's.

Yeah.. took me a year to save and buy all the parts. This is my dream bike after all. I already had cranks, headset, pedals, seat post from my last ride. I purchased the frame at Cycle Solutions in Toronto. The rest of the parts came from all over.. Tried to find the best deals. All the shimano xtr parts came at a great price from Chain reaction cycles in UK. They are half price for what you pay here in Toronto or less sometimes. And most other stuff I got were very good online deals. The sad part is i would love to support local bike shops, but i just can't justify paying $280.00 for a shimano xtr shadow derailleur locally, when i can get if for $137.00 cdn from UK.

And about the rims.. It's only a sticker after all. I don't really care, as long ass they work it's all good

I figured that you didn't care that much, just bustin your chops. It's a nice looking well spec'd ride. How do you like the way it rides. My local lbs has a frame hanging in the store and everytime I go into the shop it gets more and more tempting.

My last ride was a hardtail, an old cannondale cadd 3 frame. It was build with 99' - 2000 parts. Rocks shox sid sl, full xtr, chris king wheelset and some other goodies. It was 21 pounds and something, little lighter than the current Yeti. I have done about 250 km off road so far on the yeti and I can say this.. It feels faster than my last bike, climbs better, goes downhill better, the new rock shox fork is so much better than my old sid. And the most important part is that after 3 hr's on it i do not get neck pain that I use to get with the old bike. I guess the fit on this one is way better for me, I finally got it right and it's a little more forgiving. I did think about full suspension, tried couple bikes that my friends rode over the years. But I wanted to own an ARC since like 98' or so, and finally got myself to buy one. I feel very confident on the yeti, it goes where i want to go, and i am really happy. And one last thing... I finally got disc brakes, I was use to v-brakes all this time.. So far I am impressed, I had to cut the lines to fit everything properly, bleed them once, and so far they are getting more powerful. Very impressed with discs. I do some creek crossings and it's nice not to hear the squeaky sound of v-brakes on the rims ...

Yeah. It shows 20.5 lbs on the scale with continental speed king 2.1 protection tires. I thought it was heavier than that. Since my last ride felt a lot lighter and was 21lbs, but I guess I was wrong. I tried 2 scales, and they show 20.5 lbs.. I got stopped 3 times on the weekend by riders passing by and all these guys were saying how they always wanted a yeti arc.

Ekk, I didn't even notice that; I did not make that mistake when I built up my ZTR355 29ers. My friend just had the exact same wheels built from Dave, and he botched the nipples on his wheelset (put on the wrong colour, despite having a conversation with him about it). I would think these are the details people who specialize in wheelbuilding would not overlook.

Nice! Seriously, that's pretty damn sweet - a lovely build to compliment the simple frame. I'm loving the EuroX brakes since I put them on earlier this year. Do yourself a favour and get the green Swisstop pads when the time comes to replace them

Will we be going head to head this Sunday? Hope to see you out there!

I am going to try to make it out to that one. Hopefully they have day-of registration.

Thx for the comments. I am definitely going to upgrade the pads ASAP. Are they pretty easy to find or is my best bet online?

There is day-of, for I believe $5 more. Pre-reg is open until Friday so you have lots of time to decide if you're looking to save the $5 anyway.

I got my Swisstops from Competitive Cyclist, but there are a few dealers in the GTA I believe. A good price is around $30 - they come as a set of 4 pads (whole bike).
