What's the story behind this, this post reads like a reply to some other thread.
Where is it from?
How did you come across it?
What did you pay for it?
Did it come with typical Easton box and manual?
What tipped you off that it was fake?
I just showed how the fake handlebar looked like. Notice the inside tube shape is not even. I just bought it on eBay. The price was too good to be true. No original box.
Not his fault. If you know that it's too good to be true then why did you buy it? The seller didn't tell you to buy his stuff. You made your own decision. Next time pay a little bit more and get the real stuff. I say you get what you paid for.
Those bars all look scary, I wouldn't even ride them down the street! Abaxo is a scammer, A-hole who sometimes sends product, sometimes doesn't, and sometimes missing parts....either way he sells so much that he doesn't care about you, his feedback, or taking care of the customer. Buyer beware.
If you have good evidence that it's fake, file a claim with Ebay and you can get your money back. You might need some statement from Easton or some really obvious tip off.
Regardless, EC90 is Easton's lightest xc bar. Even if real, not suitable for all mountain or enduro. Don't jump with it.
Edisplif: not the seller's fault? If indeed fake, yes, it is the seller's fault. Ignorance is not a defense in the eyes of the law.
Proving a fake on ebay takes an act of congress and a blood test...
I think the layup of both of those carbon bars looks shady. And thats surprising because a lot of good CF comes from Asia.
I'm from Malaysia and recently there's a flood of Ritchey WCS and Easton EC90, FSA and Raceface Next carbon handlebars on our local bicycle classifieds website. Selling price was at RM125-RM180 (USD 40-60). It's common for sellers to import fakes/replicas from China and Taiwan (blinker lights, seatposts, etc) and selling them at ridiculous prices. You could get Knogg Bettle style blinkers at RM6.90 (USD2.30) for 2pcs set. I can't say abaxo is getting the handlebars from the same source, it's up to you to ponder.
Here's Ritchey branded carbon bars from Shenzhen, China for $30 bucks on ebay. Probably knock-off's or didn't pass QC. Either way Id steer clear. A questionable handlebar can land you in the hospital, or worse.
I have 3 Easton bars sitting in my garage, two EC70's and an EC90. None of them look uneven or of varying thickness w/ tool marks on the ends. All three have serial numbers and bar codes on them, as well.
have bought several things from ABAXO but nothing that would end me up in a hospital if they failed and mostly stuff for road bikes. shipping has always been prompt and prices good. sorry to hear that you may have gotten hosed. Only complaint I have about abaxo is that his listings say he is in west point, NY but everything seems to ship from Texas. When I first ordered from him, I did so because I live in NYC and thought I could get the stuff super quick.
006. 007 yeah I am using a scandium bar( azonic b-52) it s lighter and stronger than aluminum.
