Big Mountain Enduro #4, Durango
Anyone race this event? I am going to registrer for this and I'd like any info on this event....
1. How many miles each day
2. Can you enter as a team
3. How technical is the ride
4. What gear/food do you recommend bringing
5. Where do you sleep ? Expected to bring a tent and overnight gear.?
6. Any insight from someone who has done this enduro in Durango would be helpful.
Expect 3-4 hours riding per day but some of that is waiting to drop into your run. On the website they describe that this is for people with a high level of fitness
I know you can't enter as a team
Not sure on the technical but any enduro race is going to be a 6+ on a scale of 10 or it wouldn't be enduro
I'm going to get a hotel so I can shower but I'm sure you can camp and bring the GF and that part of Colorado has lots of camping options
If anyone knows the terrain that this event will follow can you comment on it's nature? The site says something to the effect of it being remote, which I can deal with. What I'm looking for is the type of riding. Some enduros are closer to XC, others closer to DH chunk, other lots of flow and air. What's this one?
It has a little bit of everything dispersed through the trail. It starts out on a screen slope, then is mostly dirt single track with loose rocks for a while. Then you climb. Then it's more single track with loose rocks. There is a chunky descent about 2/3 the way through that lasts a mile or two, then it's more... single track with loose rock. With the exception of the chunk section, it's not overly techy, but at high maneuvering will be more tricky.
That's for the Kennebec pass to town route, I don't know what the second say will be.
