I'm just posting this to let people know about the great trails just southwest of Dalton Georgia. Today we rode about 15 miles of great singletrack. There's about 25 total. We only saw 4 horses the whole time. No other bikes. The trails parallel johns mountain and the creek that runs at the foot of the mountain. The singletrack is loose pack clay and some sand. Not as fast or flowing as jackrabbit in hiwassee ga. It's not very technical. The creek is nice to cool off in afterwards. I reccommend them. The crew who made them did a great job.
Take exit 320 on I-75, and follow Hwy 136 west about 14 miles to Villanow. At
the intersection with Hwy 201, turn left onto East Armuchee Road (County
Road 705) and go about 7 miles to the Dry Creek sign. Turn left onto Forest
Road 226 following the signs to the Dry Creek Trailhead.
There's a big copy of the map at the trailhead but I'd recommend printing one out. Lots of trail intersections that can get a little confusing.
its gonna be a great place to ride this fall as it cools down a bit. i was suprised when we pulled into the HUGE parking lot and there were no other cars... just us
