I just got a set of old Avid BB brakes with magnets.... as in, pre-BB7 Avids. IIRC the BB7 is the same brake as the BB, they just relabeled it as the BB7 and took out the magnets.

Same pads. Do not use the spring clip. That is what the magnets are for.
The caliper is different, though. Uses a different shaped arm, different spring tension adjustment, and most importantly, the original caliper was designed to use 165mm rotors rather than 160mm. You may need to shorten the mounting bracket 2-3mm to keep the pads from hanging off the outer edge, if you are not using the original rotors.
