Finally got all my parts for my brakes. Don't ask. Anyway my question is do you need a washer (spacer or shime) between the caliper mount and the caliper (see pic). Or can you mount the caliper right to the mount with out the washer shime or spacer (see pic). When I received these brakes I didn't get any info. Also is it recommended to put "blue" lock tight on the mounting bolts for the bracket and caliper?
The brake doesn't need those washers between the caliper and mount - they'll raise the top of the pads beyond the edge of the rotor. The washers are in case the mount adaptor needs to be further inboard; in which case they would go between the frame/fork and the adaptor. You can put Loctite on the bolts, but a dab of grease will usually do.
i would use the washer under the allen head (or you can leave it out- i use it to help from the small allen head digging into my caliper arms and it distributes the torque over the caliper mounting pad) and a dab of loctite will just keep the bolts tight if you ride rough terrain....
There are already washers under the black cap head screws...they are just black and the same size as the heads (fancy).
