The V2 has two large pistons, large square pads and a broad braking track. It's a DH/FR and trail (AM) brake; quite bitey with a short modulation range, but can be toned down a little with the Tech lever adjustments.

The M4 has four pistons, long pads and a fairly average braking track. It's essentially a trail-bike brake, highly versatile and with a long modulation range, but can just as easily be toned up for DH as long as you're not too heavy handed or doing long braked descents.

The X2 has has two smaller pistons and smaller pad, but has the same size track as the M4. Basically an XC brake with pretty low power, but has a fairly long modulation range. In my opinion, it's a low speed brake for riders who don't 'depend' on their ability to stop quickly, but rather use brakes to knock a little speed and for stability in technical sections.
