RFX DW What Fork?

Thinking about ordering one of the early DW Link RFX's when they are ready and based on the Geometery info, having a hard time deciding what fork to buy when the RFX comes out:

- I current ride a Fox 36 Talas and love it! Fox seems to have a gap in their line-up. The 36 tops-out at 160mm travel and not interested in a Fox 40. (a triple clamp is a bit much).

- Marzocchi 66 seems like a good fork at 180mm, but Marz did away with TST (I speculate due to the wind down problem). I wish they would plagiarize the Fox TALAS or RockShox 2 Step ideas.

- RockShox, Totem, 2 Step also looks good at 180mm, but down sizes to 135mm. Is that too far? My last RS was a Pyslo - a piece of poo. It had a leak that refused to be fixed and the U-Turn required about 1.5million turns to actually adjust travel. I shouldn't be too hard on RS, SRAM makes good stuff! and this has also extended into the fork line - I'm reading good reviews these days.

- DT Swiss tops out at 150mm

- Manitou has the 203mm Dorado and nothing with 20mm axle

- Magura tops out at 160mm

- X Fusion Vengance tops out at 160mm

- White Bros 180mm fork is a triple clamp

- RST, Suntour and others...hmmm

I have an '06 Boxxer Ride on my '06 RFX and love it. U-turn adjustable from 178mm to 133mm. I dont notice the triple clamp even on some of the tight switchbacks up here on the Shore.

well, I"ve ridden the 36rc2 on my 06 rfx and it wasn't anywhere near as nice as my 08 marz 66 ata. I"ve had no adjustability problems with teh 66 shock whatsoever (others would tell you a lot of problems) It's heavier but I like riding down the harsh stuff with the 66 more than the 36. Definitely more plush in my conditions.

Lyrik is what is going on mine unless Fox comes out with a 170mm 36, or the fabled 38, before DT brings the RFX to market......

Fox 36 TALAS 180-150mm with the tapered steerer tube is the ticket.

It seems like it'd make more sense to wait until the actual frame comes out. By then, there's bound to be the next batch of "latest and greatest" from all of the manufacturers and this year's "latest and greatest" will be on sale.

DT has said the the DHR takes precedent and will be out next spring.....so that likely pushes the RFX until next Fall/Winter if all goes well with protos. So, a bit cart before the horse discussing the appropriate fork, eh?

For the record, I highly doubt the extra 10mm in the Lyrik is gonna be a game changer compared to the 160 version or a 36.

Wait just a minute here, why are you talking about getting a fork for a bike that may not even be available until next fall? DT has already said a spring launch is highly unlikely as the DHR is the focus right now. I just don't get why one would even bother worrying about a fork for a bike that basically doesn't exist.?

Now don't go and spoil this thread with logic.

Agreed, but that DH damper option might.

By the time the RFX ships we will see a few more generations of forks come and go. I'm not sure why you are shopping now.

Good point! Was just asking for opinions other than those I developed on my own.

I would have to agree with the other guys too in regards to there being even more variety of new shocks when the RFX gets released. Its all UGI so its all good.
