RIP, When I was reading it I could not help but think "a hiker heard her cries and called 911", but did not help? Am I reading it correctly?

All the coyote's I've ever seen have been really skittish and always take off long before I get anywhere near them, but then again I've only seen solitary one's. This story will definitely raise my awareness though, poor girl indeed

The Skyline Trail (where she was hiking) is one of the most incredible hikes ever. Within a few minutes, we saw moose and whales. No coyotes though. Thought a German tourist might get killed by a moose when she refused to move as a moose browsed past her within inches.

So easy to think you're always safe when out in nature.

I saw a coyote scurrying across our lawn a couple of weeks ago while taking the pups out for a late night nature call. We hear them regularly, but don't really worry about them a whole lot. At least it's not quite like the pack of wolves hanging around our cottage that the EU laws won't let us exterminate.

Poor girls, boo to the hiker who didn't actually help...

last summer I had to deal with few Coyotes every Tuesday Night.

They looked surprisingly human. Even rode bikes. They couldn't hide their character though... Sigh...

I think we should all agree to drop the Coyote discussion due to a general lack of interest and probe further into Cougars.

Despite Mrs' uninformed resistance, I am all for probing further into suggested subject.

I can't believe how the focus of this thread changed over a few hours. As Nerdgirl knows, I am not a fan of the word cougar and much prefer mountain lion. So, okosolo, you were talking about mountain lions on Tuesday night...

dude

I suggested that you do not comment my posts and I would reciprocate. I am holding my part of the bargain - you are not holding yours. And you are talking about maturity - are you kidding me?

I am married, with kid. 46 years old. I love and respect my family. As you can see - you can not be more wrong. My comment just flew by you and you didn't understand one bit of it. Those that I called "Coyotes" are my best friends, with and against whom I raced every single week this summer.

I don't post my comments for you. I post them for other members of this forum who actually understand the level of humour and communication that I enjoy. Don't feel obliged to read my posts - even better - put me on your ignore list please.

In the meantime - I am asking you one more time to stay away from me and grace me with the same treatment that I have extended to you.

Is there anything that is not clear here? Please let me know and I will gladly clarify it for you one more time.

Sorry, when I hear Mountain Lion properly referred to as a Cougar I think of the cat that is rarely seen.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cougar

Specifically the,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_Cougar

Have seen a Cougar once in 33 years in BC backcountry activity. All I saw was it cross a logging road at a high effing rate of speed, touched once the middle of road and was into the trees.

based on past false statements you made to female members and myself... nothing you say holds water. i've never had any disscusion with you about any bargin of any kind or agreed with you on any type of bargin.
liar liar pants on fire...

now back to what you wrote and the way it is interpreted by some members here.

a girl gets her throat ripe out and you make light of it with sexually derogatory statements?
i would say such a thing is socially inappropriate. it shows a great deal of immaturity and perhaps even other issues...

Oh, chill out. He never made light of the actual incident, which is clearly tragic. It so happened that there was lots of light-hearted banter going on in all mtbr threads yesterday (a symptom of less riding, due to icky weather, perhaps?). RKay and I both like osokolo, and he was just pushing our buttons with the cougar talk (which all started because of Sean). I understand that in-jokes can get misinterpreted.

Wow. I had to look up lotlizard. I've now expanded my vocabulary.

Interested to see the Grammar/Spelling Police thread expanding its influence!

By pussies, do you mean coyotes? [blink] [blink]

Coyotes don't mess with the residents of New Scotland. They only mess with the tourists.

Oh my God...

It seems that you don't have mental capacity to understand the level of conversation that is going on here. I can not help you with that but I do feel sorry.

I look forward to meeting you in person though.

Past actions and statements speak for themselves... and also reflect on and taint current statements...

Yes, very sad...she had just graduated from the Etobicoke School of the Arts last May...she was in my niece's class and were close friends.

Also, the 13 year old that died of the swine flu a few days earlier graduated grade 8 last spring with her brother, my nephew.

Both kids lost friends this week...not a good time.

...and I saw this on my ride this morning...

that was 55 years ago...

makes me step back and reflect on all the good and bad things that are happening to me daily, and reiterate the fact that our lives are too short and should not be spent living under the rock and being miserable and unkind...

Very humbling. 55 years is a long time to forget... That is what a true friendship is.....

thanks for posting this...

I saw it on my morning ride today on Burnamthorpe, just east of The East Mall...on the south side.

I actually backed up to take the pic to share with some of my old friends because we all lost friends in our childhood. This made me remember being a pallbearer at a friend's funeral when I was 10...also hit by a car.

When the Thompson collection was moved to the AGO, I was introduced to the concept of Memento Mori. Oddly for a museum exhibit, it had a profound influence on my "big decision" making process.

It's not quite "live each day as though it were your last" but you get the idea.

see roadside memorials all the time, most look like they've been up for 20+ years, tattered and unkept. frankly they have little impact after the first sighting.

that one is different.

agreed oggie, i think it's the fact that it's new AND based on an event from 55 years ago...definition, friendship.

leading by example?

all these threads that you started pretty much define your level of mental capacity... From mushrooms to bacon on the trail and from gnomes to some obscure trip food advices...

By the way, your mistress was lurking Canadian forum in your absence... I suspect she was in charge of reporting any misbehavior in your name, no?

what the heck are you talking about? the real question is why are you upset by gnomes, mushrooms and bacon? hmmmm have to think about this.... and post the results.

by the way you are following your "mo" and using a sexest term such as "mistress" to
discribe a female member and spreading a lie about this member that she reports "misbehavior" in my name...

I love your posts...

my son, who is 8 years old, finds them really interesting. He particularly liked the pics where you photoshopped a gnome mask on your face in order to conceal your identity... My son thought you really had a mask while jumping the drop and was mighty impressed... Now he wants me to teach him how to do it...

So please keep posting - it is a good entertainment for my 8 years old...

How do you know I tried to describe a female member? I guess you just proved me right...

Btw, what does it mean: "discribe" and "sexest"? Is sexest - the most sexy - like sexiest?

I believe it maybe equivalent to "most sexed" or "having had greatest quantity of sexytime experience."

example in a sentence: Is Lindsay Lohan more sexed than Courtney Love?
