I did a search and didn't come up with much on this. Figured its be discussed before though.
I have a 09' Juicy 5 setup on my bike. I would like to swap out just the levers to the Juicy 7. I herd that the 5's and 7's are similar except the 7's are more adjustable. If possible, then all I should need are the levers and a bleed kit correct?
The Juicy 5 and Juicy 7 calipers are the exact same. The only additional adjustment that the J7 lever offers is the ability to adjust the lever throw, or how much the lever needs to travel before the pads engage the rotor. It's not really worth it.
You can swap, you'll need to install a new barb and olive in the hose and bleed.
Thanks for the reply. Thats kind of what I was guessing. I don't really like how much throw I get on my J5's. I haven't tried to pump the pads out a little yet with the wheel off. I'll give that a try and see what happens.
FYI, with very few exceptions everything make by one brand works with everything of the same brand. For example, some 2010 bikes are coming with Elixer levers and Juicy calipers.
