Lens Cap for ContourHD

I was a little surprised that the VholdR ContourHD does not ship with any kind of lens cap, so I made one myself from something a lot of people probably have lying around:

Yep, it's just a 35mm film canister lid with the inner rim on the inside of the lid hacked off. Just use an Exacto knife or other sharp instrument to get rid of that inner rim (it's probably obvious from the pic that you don't have to do a neat job of this - you just need to get most of it out of the way) and it will fit your camera perfectly.

Happy hacking!

I made one too... but it split - might have been the cold weather?

While I'm sure the cold will make the plastic less pliable and more susceptible to tearing, I don't thnk the cold alone was the culprit. It's pretty easy to poke through or slightly tear the lid while cutting away the inner rim. Hopefully you've got more lids on hand and can try again - it's nice getting to the trail knowing you're starting off with a clean lens.
