29" Fixed Vulture

Here is the rig I used in the SM100. I finished the race in 11:41, beat last year's time (26" with gears and front suspension) by 1:30! This bike flies! Too bad I broke my toe at around mile 10. MAybe I finished quicker to end my misery. I guess another week before I can ride.

One more for good measure

That's grip tape on the downtube for "no-feet-on-the pedals" road descents.

That's great Dom! I wish I could have been there to check that out. That's a radical difference (fixy/rigid/29er) from last year. Did you pick up that style of riding after last year's SM100, or before? What gear ratio where you running that 29er?

Cool looking bike, BTW.

SWEEET! I'm jealous...

Nice ride! EBB?
And are those some of my favorite cheap, great cranks- the vastly underrated Sugino XD?
Pardon the geek-out, but I'd love a build list.
I'd love to do the SM100 next year, but it's so soon after the SSWC'05 that I doubt I can afford to fly crosscountry twice in that time period.

SM100 not hard enough as it is huh? Haha, just kidding. Nice job on the epic ride, ouch on the broken toe. There was another guy on a black fixed gear that finished around the same time as me that employed the feet on the handlebar downhills. Pretty friggin crazy.

Sweet Vulcha.

That bike is so nice, I printed a picture. I can't wait to get mine, I saw Wade and Derrik last week and am saving my pennies for my 29". Nice job, that sucker looks fast !

Interesting how some of the bikes on here are returning to what they were at the turn of the last century! Steel, fixed, flared drop bars Does not seem to slow you down though!

I am going up to Durham next weekend to order my FERROUS frame from Raoul (and get some riding in). The set-up sill be pretty much like that....except taller (180mm head tube!) to fit my stretched body shape

Is fixed-gear the new singlespeed?

SSP

www.63xc.com Fixed gear-off road.....well worth looking at.
