Back to work. How long were you off?

How are we going to deal with reality again?

What's the highlights of your holidays?

I hear the weather is going to be spectacular (bad for drought though)

I was out sick (really, really sick ) on the 22nd and 23rd, off the 24th and 25th, in to work the 26th, then off all last week.

No riding the week of Christmas due to illness, but rode five or six times this week

Wow, someone beat me. I've been off since Christmas Eve and dreading going into work tomorrow. My sub is notorious about misdeliveries that I get to fix, plus I have several businesses that had their mail held since before Christmas that resume tomorrow. Oh well, got to earn all those Christmas gifts. The good news is the crappy manager and supervisor were shifted out and I heard that we got a really great replacement team.

Spent the time off getting a long list shortened: got the car repaired, wallpapered the bathroom, tilled the garden (and quadrupled the size), rode my bikes several times, cleaned house, and slept in almost everyday.

Been out since Christmas Day, not really looking forward to deadlines :-(

One of my riding buddies moved away, but none-the-less, I hope to be able to get out a few times this week.

since a half day on the 24th

That makes it 11.5 days and lovin' it. Sorry to go back. I like my job but it's been a bit hectic and then at times extremely challenging.

Go figure.

I had two full weeks. Mrs Trog had a family reunion in Arizona before Christmas. I was able to suffer through it

I was able to get in 6 days of local trails too. Now, back to the slammer...literally.

I've been off work for 2 weeks. The first week was by choice. The second week was a very tired and stressful one out of town caring for my ill father. Please send along healing vibes for a speedy and successful recovery.

I haven't been on the bike for 12 days! It feels like forever. Hope the nice weather holds until the weekend. Hope it dumps in the mountains for some snow time!

Time to get back at it, both at work and at play.

I've worked 2 days since the Wed before Christmas. I go back to work Mon-Wed this week, then I'm off to hop on a train to UT til the 18th. Then I'll be back at work as much as my boss can afford it.

Officially off since the 18th with teaching, but have been doing odd jobs to pay for this unpaid holiday. Made it up Oat Hill 4X, never did make it on a group ride yet (plenty to choose from, but family, work and ride time have yet to line up. Got my bike trainer ready tonight and alarm set to 5am (yeah wishful thinking on my part!!-- but gotta try )

Thurs and Friday only. Friday itself was a last minute "take the day off" surprise. With the weather this upcoming week, wish vacation was extending itself.

At least I have something to look forward to this weekend while at work: GG2MB maybe

I got 12/25 off and half of 1/1, a couple nice afternoons in the woods.

Oh, and I lost 3 pounds.

I am hoping I don't have to go out and get a real job like the rest of you!

For me the misery isn't about how many successive days I've had off but that I haven't worked a full 5-day week in about 2 months. I've been using my vacation days to go riding and in the middle a week in Aruba and 3 half weeks for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year.

i didn't really go anywhere except for a couple of days with the kids in half moon bay (picture of what we saw at ano nuevo reserve below). so i worked a bit last tuesday and wednesday, and here i am again. did only one short mtn bike ride in briones, and did a nice road ride (35 miles with a ton of climbing) over the weekend. yesterday played some golf with my son...we both played well for a change. i hope 09 is a bit better than 08....

Problem is reality never gives ya a break. So im just going to kinda ease into reality at my own pace.

Injured my arm (strained my bicept, swelled up and bruised up bad) keeping me from skiing over new years but it was no biggie. Sold a bunch of stuff to fund a 08' sultan frame and 120mm manipoo 29 on closeout. ..yeah

Was able to play in the puddles last friday, plus a couple of skinny tire rides in.

Just a few days off over the last week, and a few days with 3 hour drinking lunches.

Incoming frame and parts, fresh keg of porter. Looks like a bike build party this weekend.

I can help with that build. I mean that porter. I have a complete selection of hammers and mallets for every bike build.

Rode some dry snow in 'hoe. Learned a new snowboarding trick and Santa brought me some new cycling gear.
Took a 4some winetasting with the G/Fs on Swift St in SC after sweating them from Hwy 9 to 1.
Then roadied back on knobbies with smiles and a buzz.

Off from Dec 19th to today. Gained 5 lbs. Rode some fun stuff in Santa Cruz, Pacifica and Oakland. Drank LOTS of different IPA's (DFH 90min is the best). Played a lot of Guitar Hero World Tour with the wife and kids. Cleaned up lots of pee spots from the new pup.

Pretty awesome two weeks.

Off since Dec 24th. First day back today

More roadie time/miles than MTB since I upgraded my road bike to a new Look over the holidays. Still got in a fair amount of MTB though.

Even with all the extra eats and beer I was able to keep the potential lbs gain at a net 0.

I have been off since June 27 (not counting the governator's mtn bike team). Spent the holidays in Tahoe skiing and snowboarding. Conditions were quite good. The big snow came just in time. Haven't been on the bike since the Monday before X-mas. Hope to get on the saddle this week, assuming my cold doesn't get any worse.

Have no idea about my weight as I don't own a scale.

I was off since 20 Dec.

I went back to The East Coast. Had pulled pork BBQ and Country Ham. I slept, drank coffee, hung out with my parents and enjoyed the cold. Accent came back too, I tell you what.

When I got back, I rode Pacifica 2x, Oat Hill Mine, Water Dog, Carlmont and like a dozen people showed up for the trials ride yesterday. Good break.

Also killing lots of zombies in L4D PC. Lots of zombies, yes.

Went in for emergency surgery the day before Thanksgiving and haven't been on the bike since then. Missed the best part of CX season and am starting to feel weak and worthless. Starting to get better. Looking forward to '09. Can't wait to hammer

two weeks too long

I've been off since the 19th as well, but it hardly felt like a vacation; our 3.5yo son's Montessori daycare was also shutdown for the two weeks (yeah, we did a lot of fun stuff [not including the kidney stone that knocked me out for three days] in the two weeks, but I don't think any of it included relaxing). I work from home, so when I dropped him off this morning it felt like the vacation actually started.

New Job

I got caught up in the Cavium Networks (CAVM) aquisition of W&W Communications. I got paid for a total of seven holidays between the old and new companies and I'm working both jobs for two weeks. Ka-ching! I feel kinda bad with some folks being out of work while I'm hogging up two jobs...

I shouldn't have taken 1.5 months off the bike. I went out to Skeggs for a short ride this afternoon and nearly threw up after a short loop (~7 miles, 1000 ft climbing).
