I just installed a new fork on my Heckler. I have not cut the steer tube yet and it appears I will need about 1.5-2" of headset spacers to get the stem to sit right. I plan to try it as is and adjust it if it feels too high. Is there any issue with running that much spacing? I weight about 275 and do mostly AM and light freeride.
yes. one you can jack your grill up if the stem is to high and you can also fold your tube over if you have your stem at the top with 2 inches of spacers underneath.
Thanks for the advice. Went for a gentle ride with the full stack and liked it a lot. Came home and hacked off and inch. Hopefully I will like it even more. ATC is a bit higher than the previous fork, so I am still gaining some height. Otherwise I may look at getting a new stem.
