Dang Tiffster, that's one light Cake! Nekked like that, mine sits at a hair under 29 lbs (then again, mine is built up as a Clyde class trailbike rather than as a race bike ) Sure lokos nice, though
I can confirm it is 25.1lbs in it's current setup with 130mm forks. Im actually 100kg so its not a full racey setup just light
However im wanting a new SID for it and a few other bits which by my maths will take it down to 23.4lbs Not bad for a frame that design that's 4 years old, just shows how good a frame it really is IMO.
Here's my first bike in over 45yrs. Just had it a couple of weeks and loving it. I think though that my 58yr old body is telling me to purchase a Thudbuster seatpost.
Off Road they grip like crazzy - in fact for me it was a little "Too" grippy but im strange like that They don't roll very well on road either.
I've mounted them with Stans and sealant - had them mounted a few months and haven't punctured once - ride on fairly nice smooth tracks no sharp rocks etc.
Just worked out with the future upgrade my Cake will be into the 22lb range Who need's a HIFI XC!
'08 Big Sur. Mods(most just added today) FSA 0s-99 csi stem, FSA K-force carbon flatbar, FSA sl-k carbon seatpost, clear oury gips, E13 bashgaurd, and crank bros candy sl pedals. The bashguard might not stay on. I don't really need it, but it gives me more ground clearance and I don't generally use my largest ring. I had a '98 Schwinn moab2 before this and it was ok, but this bike is a huge improvement. I love Fisher's Genesis Geometry. The bike climbs effortlessly, is very light weight, and is silent on the trails. I looked at the Big Sur, a Stumpjumper, and the Scott Scale 40 and I think I made the right choice.

nice! i have the same bike. Easton carbon risers and red oury grips.
New grips and bar, both from sunline.
New Magura Louise BAT Carbon brakes,
just put on today. Need bigger rotors though,
oh well I'll upgrade those when i
get my Pike
Better pics to come, maybe
Just wanted to coment on the bikes here. You guys have some great bikes and a lot of knowledge. I am new here and just started riding again. I am currently waiting on my 2009 Marlin Disc. I know some folks were asking about 2009 bike info and there is not much out there. I did find a GF pitchbook at http://www.treknology3.com/download/...-evolution.pdf I know the 2009's are priced up about 15-20 % and are said to be out in july.
Again I am new and am enjoying everyones knowledge and bikes,

Here are some shots of the new baby. Only add on so far is Crank Brothers pedals.
Also included a picture of my F ing elbow after a fall into a creek bed.
Camelbak saved my back big time.
Thanks MI_CANUCK! It's a great AM bike just need a few burly components.
I hear the new line-up of GF AM bikes is amazing!
whoa - whoa - whoa... what have you heard?????? we need details... PLEASE!!!
i can't wait to see the rumoured AM lineup!
(although i won't be able to upgrade just yet - my HiFi is a month old.... GF desperately needs these AM bikes and i can see myself getting one eventually if there really are a kicka$$ as claimed...)
Hi all, this is my first post here; I'm not new to mountain biking (been riding since 1994 when I was twelve and have worked in a bike shop since high school, now finishing up college) and I've been a lurker here on and off over the years. Figured this would be a good way to introduce myself...
It's an 08 HiFi Pro, with a bunch of upgrades... I'm really happy with how it turned out; just need to settle on some tires now. I'm thinking maybe some Conti MK's. I'll get it cleaned up and take some better photos of it, but for now here it is loving life in Idaho.
I'm originally from central IA, but have an internship in Hailey, ID (just south of SV) and am loving the riding out here! There's more mountain biking in IA than most people think, but nowhere near what it is out here!

Makes me want to go to Idaho!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
latest... upgraded the X7 shifters to X9, installed 11-34 SRAM 990 cassette (much better ratio spread for the trails I ride, plus the red anodized goes well with my black w/ red accent theme) ... oh and Kenda Nevegals DTC 2.35 front/2.1 rear... waaay better than the Jones XR's...
next upgrade will be a red Chris King headset - just need to install... [EDIT: installed!]
cheers

Not a great picture...also not a great bike compared to some of these, lol, but here's my '06 Kaitai.
Right now it's got the same wheel that's on the front on the rear also...they're horrible. Wienmann or something like that...I'm going back to all black as soon as I have the money or I might try the Ryhthms since I like that graphite color. Also going to go with some wider tires and a new front fork...although none of that will probably happen any time soon :/. I just hope I don't have a major breakdown, I wouldn't know what to do if I couldn't ride.
I know I posted this in another thread but figured I'd show the 09 Marlin Disc where I can.
It's been over six years since I've been able to ride. Had a bunch of surgeries on my foot and a lot of hardware added to it as well.

Here is my old (but new to me) Supercaliber.
Not original, and needs some work (which I have planned). Not sure of the year. bought it as a '92, but think it may be a '90. Can anybody confirm?
The HiFi is completely stock, other than running it tubeless and the grips. It weighs in right at 24lbs even with the pedals.
The Sugar is a warranty frame rebuild of my 2001 Sugar 2. I figured since I was getting a new frame that I might as well upgrade other components on the bike at the same time. They painted it silver for me since I had already been using the Sid fork on the old Sugar and thought it would be better if it matched. It weighs in at 23.5lbs right now, but I'm going to try and drop that to 22ish with some other mods.
Got a couple of shots of my new Fish out on a 12 mile big ringer..I forgot how great Genesis geo really is.. I was loving this! All flat, acouple of grades, some pavement

Bob!! Your bike is a such a pig. Just wondering if your sealant sealed up that XDX?
At least it's not a Puple Pig , haven't tried to seal it yet. Still have a tube in it, but I took it out to Nine Mile tonight and it seemed to hook really good plus it's crazy fast!! Thanks.
Bdundee,
That looks like a pretty good build, nice components also.
I think my 03 Big Sur comes in around 26# but that's with Crank Brother's Mallet C's, Sun Rhyno Lite Wheels, Avid BB7 disc brakes, WTB 26x2.4 Mutano Raptors on standard tubes with tire liners, .5# Black Spire Big Ring bash guard, WTB Speed V saddle, Performance oversized bar ends, JandD seatbag with spare tube, wireless computer and two bottle cages. Large frame and all the rest of the parts are stock.
Everything I change seems to adds weight.
On the other hand, my bud's 02 HKEK is a pig by comparison.
He has puncture resistant Specialized DH tubes with sealant installed in WTB 26x2.4 MotoRaptors. A NitroPro suspension seatpost supports a massive Serfas gel saddle. and the stock pedals have been replaced with Shimano M545 clipless with aluminum cages.
His is also a large but with Gold instead of Platinum frame and he still has the rim brakes.
for $4,300 that carbon fiber superfly should come with 2 free T-F's from Pamela Anderson. Seems pretty overpriced, especially now that they're made in China. Gary Fisher must be making HOO-KOO-E-KOO MONEY.
That Joshua looks pretty sweet, looks like some nice 3-spoke spin wheels too.

Isnt that SF made in the TREK factory here in my neck of the woods??

I'm not sure where the fly is made, but I do know it is kinda rude to knock someones ride whether it's high end or low end. I think the fly is fly
..like a fat kid in fat camp, except there's no where to hide the cupcakes now biotch! Seriously though, the weight drop is insane. I'll have to get a number out of it soon.

any report about how the talas made the bike handle before and after?
I built up the bike from the frame up so never really tried it with a real G2 fork. I bought the frame from someone that got it as a warranty replacement.
My friend did end up getting an 08 HiFi pro with the fox f120 G2 fork and when I tried his bike, I could notice a slight improvement on slow speed handling but the difference felt very subtle to me. I tried to compare the two bikes by doing a track stand on both bikes and it did feel a bit easier on his bike. But once again, the difference was pretty subtle, you really have to pay attention to notice it.
All in all, I'm very happy with my TALAS and my Hi-Fi.

I'll throw my hat into the ring with my hifi. I already added this pic to the hifi owners thread, so I figure I'll share with the rest of the class too.
Ignitor 2.1 front and CrossMark 2.1 rear
Titec H-bar and Thomson stem
Devo Ti rail saddle and USE Alien MTB carbon post
SRAM PC-68 chainline view
Boone Ti 23t cog
Boone Ti 32t chainring
Took a few pics of my 91 Aquila. Not a bad ride for what little money I have in it. Light years better than the Walmart pos I was riding for a while. Still needs some upgrading since a few things had to come off my the walmart bike to meet my budget. I took it through the Vortex trail at Santos a few times so it's still pretty sturdy for a somewhat vintage bike. A new seat and front derailleur are next on the list.
Components so far are XT brifters, Deore 9 speed cassette, LX rear derailluer and some cheap 110mm quill stem to replace the 140mm stock stem.
