Yep that is right, weather is nice enough now that everyone should dust off those lights and come on out to the New Marshall Trail Head (South East corner of Hwy93 and Eldorado Springs Drive) at 5:30pm Thursday. Plan on riding by 5:45 to 6. This will be a fun ride, no drop atmosphere and we will loop the dowdy trails at least. There are several options for folks wanting to cut it shorter. Will not need the lights for a good part of it. I may do another loop earlier if anyone is interested--possibly the Dirty Bismarck.
Eats and such at Southern Sun afterwards. Plan on about 1.5-2 hours of riding. I have extra lights if someone needs them.
Lets put some faces to names and maybe even meet a few riding partners...
Super in normally for that route and a group but hitting Hall in the afternoon. Post again soon and I'll tag along. Names to faces..... here's mine from yesterday. I'm kind of proud. The Bone got the best of me but think I'm only laying low for a day. I realize this is over kill for a group ride post but wanted to put these somewhere on the Frange board.

High jack successful ...glad you are okay--I throw in a sports mouth guard during techy sections for that very reason--I smacked my teeth on a fall hard like that but chipped one pretty badly--and the lip took a hit also like yours. Mouth guard $4 Dentist reconstuctive surgery and ceramic tooth patch $500. Funny, my dentist in Boulder was the one that recommended it--he fixes a LOT of mountainbikers' teeth there! You do the math....
Guess we will see how the weather holds tomorrow too!
I was actually thinking of riding it around 5:00 with a co-worker. But now I'm questioning it due to weather and that my wife wants to eat out tomorrow.
BTW,..With the time change, it's time for earlier riding without lights.
And here is the weather forecast. I'm not trying to be negative, just realistic. It will be a good ride even if forecast is right...just prepare accordingly.
what time would the dirty biz-naz start up? I tend to need to leave work fairly early so I might be up for that then do the reg loop with the late comers
I'm probably reading the chart wrong but that looks like every winter day I've ridden? Maybe a little warmer and less windy? Is it supposed to rain/snow significantly before 9pm?

How do you guys join up to the Coalton trailhead if I want to ride backwards on the route to meet you?
When I do the loop I just hit that dirt road out of Cowdrey and the go over the hump and turn on Coalton just before the wall. Or I could pass the wall on 128 and ride backwards from where coalton meets high plains until I meet you guys. I just want to maximize pedaling time before meeting the main group later and it would be cool to meet up with the early loop.
I don't think you'd want to go backwards on the McCaslin road, so if you want to maximize ride time and like rocks you could park at the 128/93 trailhead for High Plains/Greenbelt and ride east on High Plains till you meet the group coming up Coalton. This would also be good for getting off Dowdy later on. I think the timing would work out where you'd not have to wait, but it would maybe depend on how efficient the group is.

Sounds good. No driving for me but riding anywhere is fine. So you guys do take McCaslin from the dirt road that dumps out behind the shopping center and starts where Cowdrey ends? Is that 66th? I ride that road all the time but I never actually looked at the name.
I can get from home to the top of the wall (McCaslin and hwy128) in under 25 minutes unless it's super windy so it's easy to drop down McCaslin to Coalton or head up 128 further and jump on where Coalton and High Plains meet and go backwards down Coalton.
The road is 66th that climbs from 170. You intersect it at the end of, iirc, Cowdry Draw. It likely changes names after climbing and dumping you down and left along the cement canal. This continues through some houses and to McCaslin. Then it's up the paved climb, down again and you're at the Coalton trailhead.
I would expect the group would hit Coalton ~4:45 if it leaves the main trailhead on time.

I was just kidding anyway about the high jack...it may seem a little silly with the mouthpiece but they have come a long way and you can actually talk and breathe with them in--much different than the ones from HS sports that just sucked royally.
So we meet at the Marshall Mesa Parking area at 3:30 to do the dirtybiz. Its about 14 miles or we can make it 18 by adding an early dowdy loop in and still join the late crowd for another round o fun. See you there--and southern sun is still on.
Side note: Okay, I have heard it all, going out to eat (we are too at southern sun.....so join us), weather (I was just kidding, I climb big mountains and we have not had any bad weather this year from what I know), and yes, I have a new one for you--my bike's rear shock is completely not working now after an internal o ring failed and the spring chomped it all into little bitty parts--so maybe I should bail myself. Nope...I will ride the 13 year old stumpy single speed with 32/19 and show everyone how slow and how much fun I can really have instead. OH, and now that I know Pivvay is coming along I will probably not be able to keep up but will follow the smoke from the burning rubber. And to add insult to injury--the last time I rode with mtbjedi I got left for Mtn Lion bait on the school bus trail so this should be a blast tomorrow night (just kidding). I guess the late crowd was the no drop part though.....
I'm not sure I can make 3:30. I will try, but if not I'll leave for a dirty bismark a bit after 4. I'm taking my Trek with small wheels and funny handle bar. Hope to see some of you out there
That's the spot. What time are you planning to be there?
The forums are most definitely busted. It appears that links to individual threads are ok, but other than the main forums.mtbr.com page, all the forum index pages don't work. It looks like time to buy another box of gerbils.
EDIT: Actually, it looks like things are running again. Thanks mtbr!
