Moab is upon us

'Tis the season. I drove the circus wagon up from AZ through a dilly of a blizzard that lasted from Flagstaff, through Monument Valley and into Monticello. Moab was refuge, safe haven, and (most importantly) dry.

I hooked up with dear friends and hit the dirt and rock.

We had a nice little local spin off of Slickrock.

The next day, Amasa.

The weather in MArch and April can be spotty (and Easter Jeep Safari happens March 15-23), but as April comes to a close, you'll generally have great weather (as in it is not getting hot yet. As May comes in the weather is great, but days can get hotter.

Spring storms can come up any time during those months, but generally, Late april and May you'll find a lot of really nice days.

Of course, June through August (and into Sept) can be really hot - sometimes without any breeze makes it even worse!

Mid - late September, October and early November can be great times as well. I spent several thanksgiving holidays in Moab. Mornings were cool, but the days were comfortable.

As posted in this thread, you can get great days even in the dead of winter.

Ummmmm. Not only does your job suck, you have to hang out in ugly god forsaken places, but then it seem that you have to ride with a lot of women. Boy, do I feel sorry for you.

Those were taken with the old reliable 28-105. I also have been shooting a 17-40/4 out on the trail. I have yet to take the big zoom, I'm not fast enough to get that far away from people.

We left Fruita Thursday night and landed in Flag that night. Makes me wonder if we crossed paths. Thanks for the photos. Glad it was dry for you, it wasn't for us.

I'm heading to Moab mid April of anyone wants to tag along. Planning on camping and checking out the sick riding as a graduation present to myself before I start real life. See you there!

Holy cow! that's one of the most awesome looking place to go that i have ever seen. Here in Missouri and surrounding areas the best you can do is dense forest Trails that that's like the complete opposite, something i definitely have to check out some time.

Sometimes after going awhile without viewing one of anthony's posts I start thinking maybe they are over-hyped and over-played a bit because of his passing...... then I see one again and realize, nope....he was special. Maybe even more than I remembered.. .

As I browsed these images I was struck with the same breathless awe and wonder at the extraordinary way he captured not just the stark beauty of the landscape but the very soul of mountain biking as I was the first time I viewed them.

You are missed anthony.
