Amidst the mighty saguaro

2 fun facts about the Saguaro

They take 75 years to grow an arm, older specimens can be over 200 years old.

During the monsoon they suck up so much water that they can incease their weight by as much as a ton. To this end, they are much like college kids at a keg party, often drinking until they fall over.

Phoenix. Somewhere out there, in between the golf courses, urban sprawl and eyebrow raising traffic are some trails, and after a day or so of pounding the pavement, we decided to partake.

There are many Waldo? photos here.

St. Joe of the Cholla.

Hawes/Twisted Sister. Gooooood stuff. Hopefully your pavement pounding was only a necessary means to an incredible riding end.

I love that last shot. Very nice.

I was scrolling down through the pics, saw the one of Joe with his hand outstretched, and thought: "It looks like he's blessing them or something."

Then I saw your caption.

Thanks for the pics. The one showing the contrast of the big rock formation and the green "valley" around the river (creek?) is nice.

cool shots; I wished I was there riding that now, being a highly paid desk jockey and "people-sitter" with practically ovewhelming responsibility is beginning to frankly su*k.

There you go again- more Yeti spam... Shame, shame, shame...

Seriously though, whatever they are paying you, it's not enough... If this is what you do when drivng demo bikes around the country, imagine if you actually worked in their marketing/advertising department... Those guys are the ones that should be ashamed of themselves.

Great post.

Thanks, I needed a dose of AZ.

I got my saguaro fix a little south of that(lived in Tucson), but from here (through the snow of NH) it all looks the same.

Homesick!

That trail used to be my 'out for a quick spin' ride of choice. I've since moved to Seattle (where the trails are great) and miss the desert! Especially this time of year where it is dark by 4:30. Thanks for sharing!!!

You have got to stop posting threads like this. It seems like everytime my boss walks by, I am looking at one of your photo spreads.

Seriously, another fine work break here at MTBR.

Nice ride. Whenever I see your pics I think of that trip to Petra. Great stuff.

Are you getting some vignetting on the wide shots from the filter or hood?
