Rocks

Friends and neighbors,

I dunno if you've noticed this but there's a lot of rocks heaped up there in the American West. A lot of rocks.

My perigrintaions have taken me from Fruita, back to Golden and thence right back past Fruita into Moab. I pulled into Moab and arrived at the abode of some friends who served up some margaritas concocted with a healthy sortie of clementine oranges. Not a bad way to arrive.

After a good night's rest we cranked out a little Amasa Back, , Jackson ride. Good stuff, that. And the weather was suspiciously perfect. Isn't this November? Aren't we supposed to be huddled in the cabin, grunting in the dark, wondering if we cut enough firewood, wishing we lived in the beautful south?

M. making it look easy.

It's not about the bike...

Southward some more, past Mexican Hat

Through Monument Valley

It's not about the truck...

And into the greater Sedona Metroplex

I did basically that same trip in reverse this past September. Your pictures turned out a lot better than mine.

Thanks for the passion hit.

Damn, I know it's hard to take a bad pic in those environs, but many of those are way beyond good. Good eye, mate.

Yeah, whatever. Boring shots of the boring desert Southwest, seems they are a dime a dozen.*

Nice, the dust from the car in the Monument Valley pic adds a nice touch.

Ah Sedona...still have not been there so thank you for bringing it to me. What is Yeti's policy about hanger-on'rs? Can I just hop in the back of the truck and tour with you for a week or two this summer? I can clean drivetrains and patch tires to earn me keep. The Monument Valley picture is perfect.

I understand that that maneuver has been tried, and the outcome was less than ideal. Hmm, maybe if there was no beer involved...

Has anyone noticed how the "Where's Waldo" thing is less likely to work when Joe is the rider in question? Ain't no way that boy's shirts are blending in to the desert landscape...

So, has anyone gone out with a hammer and chisel and carved a pic of a mtn biker into the side of some rock yet?

Imagine what scientists a thousand years from now would think...

I'm heading for bed. I saved your post for last. I knew that I would see beautiful pictures of places that I have yet to ride. I was right. Now I hope to dream of riding with those photos fresh in my mind.

Thanks for posting up.

Hey it ain't all wine and roses. Sometimes it's beer and potato chips.

And I have so much tegaderm on my legs from various crashes that small children mistake me for an advent calendar.

I know (those chips can give you salt burns on your tongue!), and truth be told, in the last 12 months I have been to Australia, California (2x), Minneapolis, AZ (2x), Moab, St. George/Hurricane (2x), Park City, North Carolina, Winter Park, New Mexico, Switzerland, Italy, France, Scotland, Austria, and Slovenia. I didn't get to ride in all those places, but it was all cycling related and I did get to go. Oh, and I get to LIVE here.

As far as my legs, well, let's just say I won't be pursuing a career as a model.
