Right - its been out long enough, by now people have got to have a growing collection of Enduro SL action pics out there? I'll start us off (one new, one old...):
Well last week my Buddy took the LBS shop demo 08 Sl out on its maiden voyage.
and then after the ride , he did Wheelie on a teeter . and from personal experiance I can tell you that is very bad Idea to do, usually with results like this

Clearly the reflector on his front wheel threw off his balance. That's why he fell!
Thanks for sharing the pictures; it’s great to see someone hucking the SL. I have a Santa Cruz VP Free so I use that as my weapon of choice when air is in the offing. I mostly use the SL for trail use and love it for that application. That said I’ve been comfortable on the SL on 3-4 foot drops to good transitions but I don’t have any pictures to share.
Thanks, again, for the eye candy!
Michael

I WISH I had a VP Free for the rougher stuff....but since I am strictly limited to one bike according to the ministry of finance, the SL has to do it all.
e-bo-b, thanks for sharing. Looks like you were having a blast. Speaking of friends with cameras, for today's ride I brought a friend who knows his way around a (=my) camera. He took some pretty cool shots:
I would have pics of me riding it, but i've blown 2 rear shocks and a fork in 2 months, so i has put a damper on my riding time. I have had to ride XC on my DH bike

Hi Iceman,
Wow! I'm impressed; these are professional looking pictures from both the technical aspect as well as the composition. Very nice!!
Whistler...VP Free.....looks like fun!!!!!! Dammit I want to go.
Thanks for the props on the pics. I'll pass your comments to the photographer...I know he's stoked about them because it was the first time he tried this kind of stuff on MTB pics....he'd done mostly theoretical stuff in a photography class before...but he obviously knows a lot more about it than I do (I mainly use my DSLR as an advanced point and shoot in auto mode....sad I know....).
PS. I like your backyard - always did! Ideal for spending time fooling around when you don't want to drive off somewhere. Wish I had one just like it.
How many bike shops per mile on the Arizona trails???
Very impressive pictures, Marshall Willanholly! Minus 4 Degrees Celcius, muddy, wet & dull here in the UK; so great to see tee-shirt riding In Arizona (not)!!
Especially impressed by the first picture (staggered effect); I’ve assumed it was taken with a digital camera and not using separate SLR transparencies(?). What photographic technique has been employed to create this?
…………Or is it not down to the results of any clever photographic effect at all(?). Moreover, merely a multi-frame representation of the number of instances that the bike needed to be returned to the bike shop with Specialized's E150 Forks or AFR Shock related problems through the overall distance travelled shown. Before, that is, your girlfriend clearly had the sense to fit an alternative to these Mickey Mouse reliability own-brand components? (cynicism based on my own love/hate relationship experience of my 2007 Enduro SL Pro [and the frustrations aired throughout many threads on this site by other disparaged owners])

Thanks for the kind words. I did a step-by-step on the sequence technique in another thread a while back. It's near the bottom.

The sequence effect looks so cool!!
Without getting all geeky on you, I'd love to give it a try too............
1. Is there a necessity to go high-end specification with the digital camera employed
(what would you say are the minimum requirements)?
2. What software is employed? Photoshop?
Do you happen to know if there is a tutorial on the web anywhere?
.............If nothing else, at least learning how this technique is achieved, will avoid me inadvertently making the mistake of "duplicating" my own girlfriend (Jeez! Perish the thought!!!!)

1. I don't think you need a high-end camera, just one that has a "continuous" mode (camera keeps taking shots as long as you hold the shutter button down).
2. I used Photoshop, but there is probably other software that will do the same thing. If you follow the link in my last post, there's a step-by-step tutorial on how I did my sequence shots.
A few of my GF enjoying her SL over Christmas vacation in AZ.
Hi Marshall Willanholly! Great photos and how good to see you GF riding. I am trying to get my wife to do the same and no luck so far!
Hey, I noticed you've changed suspension in both bikes. What are you using? How do the bikes ride? As good as with the original suspension or better? I have a comp 08 and luckily, I haven't had any problems as yet and love the bike but good to know what some other SL owners are using. Cheers!
Holy Crap Jselz1, what an awesome drop. Does your SL take that quite happily or do you bottom out? I watch that kind of stuff on Drop In. You Rock!!!!!!!

She bought the frame and moved all the components over from her old bike (Intense 6.6), so she can't compare it to the stock suspension. She's running a Lyrik coil in front and a Fox Van R coil in the rear. Good to hear you haven't had any problems with yours.

I see, the bike looks awesome. Thanks for the info!
Nice place to go riding! Looks like you just had a major dump of snow in the Pyrenees there....good winter? (BTW, your area looks similar to the south of France, where I lived for many years...).

Iceman, not a good winter (there's no enough snow!).
One more SL pic "in action".
U DA MAN ! That looked way cool .I'm jumping sidewalks and tiny puddels in New York compaired to you . Maybe you should keep that spech life time frame warranty handy w/ jumps like that . LOL , Keep up the pics , good stuff . Next time I want to see you jump 3 sheep and 1 goat .
Man, that photo jumping the gap is just awesome!!! Far out, can't beleive the bike can take all that abuse!!!! And for you, well done buddy!
So, are you still with the original Suspension?? No problems with it at all? How about bottoming out?
Thanks for the encouragement man. Yeah, the bike takes it fine, but like I said above, its not actually a very violent hit. The tranny is smooth, if you hit it with enough speed.
Anyway, I've posted before about how nicely this bike behaves when it does bottom out...I always found that it kept its composure, no strange sounds or "tweaking" feeling in the frame...
The suspension has been replaced once (this was an 07 comp)....now on the 08 stuff for quite a few months of continuous abuse, and all is good so far.
Ok i know its not in action but it just has been so i hope that counts!
Just got her today LBS did me a great deal 08 Enduro Expert Test Bike only been out for 3 rides its like new got it cheaper than the Enduro Comp! Can't complain at that price.
Been out today for the first time in the mud haven't had much rain up this way lately i've got to say this bike handles as well in the wet as it does in the dry awesome bike the best money can buy.
Fix your rubber bumpers! They are driving ME crazy, and it isnt even my bike! Haha
That thing does look pretty damn clean though.
haha!! and I thought I was the only one paying attention to the rubber bumpers!!! Didn't want to make a comment though, instead, just closed the explorer window!!!
HEY!
This is my new bike and her maiden voyage, although it isn't an action shot, it was taken during her first action. Sorry for the quality of photos, comes from my phone's camera. I live in 4-wheeler country so all the trails are way loose and rocky, adds a little challenge.
Haha enduroblood yeah i know what you mean they have been driving me crazy as well i keep pushing them up but after every ride they just end up wherever, do you think a bit of super glue would be ok? Should they even move like that? Only had the bike 2 weeks!
if you want to keep your rubber bumpers from moving get a can of hair spray....it keeps em in place and you dont have to use glue which would be a bad idea if you need to service the forks...works well on grips as well if you dont have lock ons
Thanks Iceman! Yeah, got a bit of air on that one! Landed just pass the rock and bike absoved the shock nicely! Having a bit of trouble with small bump sensitivity on the shock though.

Hmmm, yeah, I think that is fairly normal behavior on the SL. Its either small bump sensitivity or big hit absorbtion I'm afraid...
Thats one awesome video, once again you show me how that SL should be ridden. I have moved house and got a new job. I now have a nice playground full of drops and jumps, tho nowhere as good as yours. What setting do you have your AFR at compression damping wise? I usually run mine on the third (one from fully soft) but find this still soaks up on the jumps too much but is fine for 3 - 4 foot drops. Would you recommend higher PSI and keep the third setting? Thanks for any info. Hope to get some pics/videos on soon, this thread rocks!!!
Keep on pinin it...
Wil

I tend the run the AFR fully open on compression damping most the time, and a good amount of rebound compression (at least 4-5 clicks...in other words pretty much the middle of the range). This means I have to run higher PSI (185-195 psi....I weigh about 200lbs) in the air spring to avoid bottoming out, so yeah, a little bit of the small bump sensitivity goes out the window, but what can you do...
With this setup the shock is responsive enough to gobble up most of the trail bumps, but still has enough pressure to deal with the bigger hits. I'm good up to about 5 feet to flat - I really hate going any bigger to flat anyways. The tranny is your friend....
ok, here is my contribution.
taken at black rock mountain bike area in Oregon. I think it's brmba.org or something.
Oh, and my SL just happens to be listed for sale on this site. hint hint. 263.4.jpg
You got it! Selling because ever since I bought a Demo 7 II the Enduro has not been riden.
The Demo does everything that the enduro does and more. I can climb the really technical rocky sections like nothing before. The enduro is a great bike dont get me wrong, it's just that the weight doesn't bother me on the demo and I like the super super smooth suspension, did I say super smooth? I meant a buttery squishy ride over absolutely anything up or down kind of feeling. I think the Enduro has to much stiffness initially in the forks(not linear, not the same from beggining to end), then if you give it less preload you end up bottoming out on descents and cant jump at all. It doesn't ride over obsticles, it jars and bounces over them. I had it for a year and could do way more on the endo than my xc bike so maybe I'm just transitioning to the type of riding I really want to do. Ride to the top and catching bigger air on the way down.
It's all good really.
who knows if I don't sell the Endo then I wouldn't be that upset about having to keep it for some really long 30 mile rides.
2_wheels - that was a lucky guess (when I said you were buying a Demo).
I'm sort of in the same boat as you - stepping up my riding a bit. The SL is still up for it (if I stay smooth), but I do have my eyes on getting a big brother for it....
It's a bit unfair to compare the Demo to the SL...especially in regards to ploughing prowess. I've ridden quite a few other 150-160mm bikes (trail bikes as opposed to big free-ride bikes like the Demo)..the SL holds it's own. Sure, it is a little bit rough in the suspension, especially if you set it up for bigger hits, but life is always about trade offs. If like me you can only have one bike (for now anyway...) to commute to work, ride on the trails, and hit some fun stuff with on thw weekend.....the SL is close to ideal.
Anyway, we did some more filming today...here's a quick updated video clip. The SL rocks on....
Going down Ayres Rock at Laggan Wolftrax in Scotland on my new Sl Comp
Hey Mr B at home,
I rode Laggan constantly, I loved the new red and nearly killed myself on the black everytime. How is it looking up there? Have the finished the new trails they were building? I thought I was the only one who would ride an SL up there as everyone else always seemed to ride anything but specialized, well apart from the occaisional Big Hit.
I haven't been up that way for ages (moved to Glasgow for a new job). Going up soon tho getting Laggan and Fort Bill in.
Nice pic, I loved Airs Rock not sure about the new approach to it tho...

Hi There
Laggan's always a good day out although got blown of my bike going over one of the drop offs on the new red the day that pic was taken A good run but a bit exposed when the weather is poor. Trails are in great condition and the pannini's in the cafe are as good as ever
I'm sure you'll enjoy coming back up...I would try and include Golspie though if the weather is decent

Finally managed to get a head cam video of a freeride park in South Scotland, this is only one section of it, the mpg is 12MB so it might take a minute or two to download, you should see my under construction homepage, but don't worry it will auto redirect you to the video:
It takes about 30 - 40 minutes from Edinburgh. The roads can get quite busy at times so it takes a bit longer if you go later in the day. That clip was on one section of the freeride park. I managed to get this other pic of me warming up on the drops, first time off them. There are some awesome wall rides where the camera was sat, go to you tube and look up Glentree freeride park to get an idea. If you are ever visiting Edinburgh drop me a line and we can shred Glentress and Innerleithen. They have a bike shop at the trail head where the hire out Kona's and Santa Cruz (I know you wouldn't want any other bike than your Enduro; you could always borrow mine).

Finally got some pics of my new SL - its an '07 "demo", though according to the LBS it only went out on one demo ride. It has the new '08 internals, from what I've heard this was the sacrifice machine - used for parts when other '07's needed replacement parts.
What a machine! These pics surely don't show what the ride was like, just a couple of log rides along the way.

Yo Wil!
Sweet! I will try to hook you up next time I get up there (if I can make it before winter... ). I don't mind a day on a rental if it's for fun riding....just got back from a couple of days in Les Gets and Morzine (in the French alps)....I rented a Commencal Supreme DH and rode the DH tracks ("Pleney" and "Chavannes" - look it up on Youtube...) - freakin' AWESOME!!! DH bikes are fun to ride in the gnarly stuff for sure. I also saw a bunch of guys up there with their SL's....they suffered a bit in the brakebumps for sure, but they looked like they were having fun anyways.
For some reason the only pics that look good are from the same rock, oh well. I have never been good at doing this type of climbing - quick, steep ups. I was some what amazed at how easily I climbed this stuff today.
Still loving this bike,
John

I have a lot of air time booked with this bike - most of which has come by way of jumps along fast descents - so no pictures of that stuff - I bottomed out the front fork off a jump today - first time for that - I'll have to add a few PSI to the fork.
A couple of rock crawlers on a solo ride today - all done with timers:

This is a rock feature on one of the local trails, its called Cheesecake Rock. I have no idea where that name came from - it doesn't look like its namesake in any way that I can see.
Its actually a four part feature - small drop, ride up the rock ramp, ride down Cheesecake (very steep) then right after the rock there is a nice jump. Not sure what the loud "ugh" is at the end of the vid - I don't even remember uttering it. And of course this much more difficult than it looks - when we do group rides here, 1 in 10 riders attempt it (if that).

Nice Shots! What kind of Knee pads are you wearing ?
Bulldognz
They are Roch/Raceface pads. I like them, they stay in place and aren't too hot. Locals seem to be switching to Fox something or others - have to check those out when these get too smelly (now!).
