I think they are still working on the 2007 updates for the webpage. In past years, there has been English version of the webpages.
There has been no race day registration (2,000+ racers!)
You "register" by submitting your info online. You then get a number, which you need to note and remember. When you pick up your racer packet, which you can do on race day morning, you hand over the fee (was $15 last year), get your stuff, number your bike, and line up at the start.
Last year, folks started lining up and pushing for the good start spots about an hour before race start.
At least for this year, you don't need a passport to come back from Mexico (by land). 2008 may be different.
Make sure you bring your driver's license. You will also need a couple of bucks to cross back over the bridge. Plus some money to spend on beer, food, goodies at the expo.

This just in
An update note I received:
Saludos y cualquier duda adelante!
raul.mena@chupacabras100km.com
Per Google translation, it says:
In contáctanos ( http://www.chupacabras100km.com/contactanos.html)
Victor Manuel de Morelia, asks to us on the track of this 2007.
The track is equal of good that the last year….it will be he himself route? has not been damaged the track?
Raul Mena, Director of Track responds to him:
The track is going to practically have he himself route that the year last, leaving the club of soccer veterans towards the Bridge the International Zaragoza, this will be by I embroider of the Bravo River, the return is going to be under I embroider, like the last year. The way this in very good conditions and now on the contrary to the last year, is very compact, later we were gotten up to I embroider again.
This year there is a highway which we must cross (already we have resolute east problem) and are going to cross two bridges, really do not represent much effort, starting off of there the route is he himself, after the Slope of the Devil where this year we created single track amused enough that will make undergo much people, this single track is more or less in km 70 and because the fatigue is enough so it will make it but interesting.
As every year the track will be noticeable completely and to lose itself is not an option for Chupacabras, so we hoped to soon see them and then train that the ascents continue being hard!
Greetings and any doubt advanced!

Tranquillo, tranquillo. They probably just need a little more time to get the webpage all updated for '07.
EDIT: It looks like this is the Espanol registration page: Inscription

I've noticed that there has been quite a bit of kidnappings and murders of americans in the border land .Is it ok to carry an assault passifier for protection while doing this race? Will border patrol frown upon this?I know of a few trust funders that are riding this=easy pickens for the bad guys. For the record I'm no trust funder,my family is dirt poor.

We haven't lost anyone yet. North-of-the-fence bikers usually park and meet up on the US side and ride over in groups to the race start. During the race, you're in the middle of muchos machos riders, race voluteers and fans. There is also good law enforcement presence.
Now if a racer is loco enough to try to do the event on a SS, he may get WAY dropped on the flat levee road portions (which are big ring / small cog crankouts). In that case .......
I have always found the event to be fun, different, exciting, well supported, friendly and challenging. It is a unique view of our southern neighbor. When you ride through the town, the kids cheer you on with noisemakers and shouts of Ah-nee-mahl!
The post-race hangout at the expo is also coolness with food, merch, lots of bikers, and the Tecate ladies.
(If your pacifier has amunition, leave it at home - or you may have to figure out how to make bail in pesos).

It is true that we have had our share of issues (specially with the US reallocating sex offender to El Paso we are having once a month news on US pederast caught in Juarez, but we are starting to control that issue).
If is it true you are dirt poor you already know places in US that are far more dangerous that what you are going to live during the race (except those crazy down hill sections, but that is another story). You will be surrounded by 2000+ riders, you will almost always have someone in front of you and behind you, unless you are really good or really bad (or dope in the last 20 kilometers)

Any plans for El Paso-Las Cruces ride?

Chupa is awesome!
Hey, I went down a couple times to race and one time to help the hubby. No issues whatsoever. Just good vibes (and a funky smell coming from the Rio). Fast guy=sub 4 hours. Avg guy= 5-7 hours. Slow (which is most of the crowd= 8+ hours). Doing it on a SS is, well, you really need to think about it. Flat levy for more than half the race. Steep climbs on single track. But you'll never be alone. Chupa sees pro skinny roadie types and Chupa sees fat guys on huffy's wearing jeans.

after over 70 k's... halfway up the asphyxia climb, not even pedro will save you; furthermore, at that moment you just won't give a damn about who comes to pick you up or about your personal safety. You'll just want to get the hell away from there ASAP!

If you ride your SS I'll show on the Fixie.
And as for the smilies, why don't you string three or four of them together and shove'em.

Amigos de Los Alamos...
Hey, compadres, a friend and I are going down from Los Alamos, and we can pick up race packets for anyone else from LA. I plan to get there Thursday night (wife's family lives in Juarez, so we go down often). I'll be picking up packets on Friday, and can meet people on Saturday before the race with their packets. Of course you'll have to register on line, and probably give me your registration print-out or photo ID or something before I go down. Anyway, if you're interested, send me a PM.

Greengoes' guide to Choopz
It can be a bit confusticating for the noob. Here, hopefully, is some help.
If you want to ride across, get to El Paso, take I-10 to the Copia exit, go south to Paisano, go west to San Marcial, go south into the Chamizal Memorial and park the car. You'll probably see other chooper trooperz and can follow their lead. You can ride your bike across the bridge into Juarez and down to the race HQ.
Bring some $$$ for foods and goods at the park and to buy your way back home. Also be sure to bring your driver's license and don't lose it.
"Official" word is you have to go the HQ in Juarez on Friday between 8am and 7.30pm to pick up your packet and number. I'm inquiring to see if a rider can have a friend pick up their packet for them without having to be present in person.

OMG what am I thinking
Was reviewing my past times to mentally prepare for the trail travails ahead
Year......... Time.........Place........Out of...............Jersey color
................................................re ported times
2006.........7.13..........571..........1175...... ............White
2005.........5.42..........273..........1049...... ............Orange
2004.........5.42..........271...........938...... .............Flames
2003.........4.56..........115...........898...... .............Red?
2002.........results.......not...........avail.... ..............White
The course got lengthened in, I think, 2004 to include new singletrack and 2005 to include the trip by the church.
Hmmm, I sure hope I can at least beat 7 hours this time. Ow, my aching back.

The main change was in 2004 was not starting in the east going west, mountains in the middle and back. Now is start going to east, back to west, mountains and a little bit of going to east again to return to Chamizal, that means going castrellon first, then king kong steps and to the left to asphyxia (that increased times!) instead of going to the king kong steps first to the right right and back castrellon like it was before 2004.
You have very good times/places. My best is like 22x place taking a little bit more than six hours. I don't have high expectations for my performance this year but, it is always fun, and maybe next year I'll have more time for training.

Ahh, Juaritos...
Just chillin' all day here in Juarez...went to get the packet this morning, and they are also giving out nice long sleeve t-shirts. With the jersey I'll be picking up tomorrow, that'll make the best swag around--for $25. Chupacabras rocks, if nothing else, for the swag. I wonder if Tinker Juarez, and those Italian dudes they invited will show up? It's gonna be a hot one tomorrow!

Who's afraid of the Chupacabras
the Chupacabras
the Chupacabras
Who's afraid of the Chupacabras
Not me!
A long, dusty day in the sun. Muchos Nuevo Mexicanos and Mexicanas represented and put in solid efforts.
I drank a lot - 100oz camelbak, 2+ big bike bottles, plenty of water handups and a Powerade bottle handup.
I cut my last year time by about 25 minutes and finished up at about 535, while nursing a bit of a quiver cramp in the leg to keep things interesting - no complaints.
Oh, the sights on trail. Bikers splayed on the ground in poses of rictus, beating their legs, hollering about cramps. A skinny, fit looking racer standing in the trailside cactus garden puking, a lot. Riders huddled by rocks, trying to squeeze into the shade while they worked up the resolve to move again. A dude in hightop sneakers, budget bike, and flat pedals kicking tail.
Most everyone at the finish looked pretty knackered after putting in their best trail effort.
I recorded appx 4,800 feet of climbing.
Some swag and other stuff to help relive the joyous agonies (the dogtag felt most appropriate):

This race revived my love for Mexico.I was the only singlespeeder , that I know of ,finishing.Ran a 34/18 for 6 hours then drank a bunch of beers while waiting for Crash. Crash, finished in 9 hours and reported 8 punctured tubes. With the kindness of the other racers she was able to get 5 tubes and finished with a couple of tire marks on her back. Here is a photo of some bigshot mexican racer I met in Vegas a few weeks ago

Chupa Carnage....
For once I finished Chupa without swearing and vowing I would never return. Other than being caught behind 12 crashes on the way to Zaragoza, running over 2 bikes, 1 set of legs, and yelling at some guy down the 1st descent that he was riding like a senorita in a pink skirt and if he did't let me buy I was going to run his butt over, it was a fabulous race. Dave did awesome 12th place and I came in 38th, 1st female. I was blown away by the amount of volunteers on the course handing out water, bananas, oranges, powerade, redbull, and some funky brownish liquid that I couldn't quite bring myself to drink. Oh and the whole area where we exited the levy and entered the slum/wash, that was a little sketchy on the return since I was all by myself. And what was up with the little goat farm by the freaky church up on the mountain? Excellent trails! We'll be back.

seems not for me
Second year in a row I got sick the week before the event. Last year a full week of diarrhea before the race had weaken me so much that I stuggled the whole ride with cramps and let me finish in over 8 hours. This year I got a flue 3 days prior to the start, but with antibiotics and other over the counter drugs I started.
Just as mentioned by the others before I really enjoyed the atmosphere a long the trail. Also the new single trail this year from the Asfixia was a lot of fun! Next year again and I hope then without any sickness!!
Noticed again... 29er are the way to go. My bike was gliding throught the arroyos where others were already pedaling

Wow, what an event. Over 2300 riders and there must have been a few hundred event staff. We got to the starting line about 7:40am and the race started at 9. There was a few hundred riders in front of me and more keep squeezing in as you could see bikes pass over head, over and over again. After the start the riders shot over to the levy for a few miles and almost got caught up in crash while I was talking with Makachut. Turned out, after talking with Mark, it was his wife that was in the crash but luckily she was ok. Things were fast paced but I snapped a few pic’s at the start and while on the levy.

Well things were going quite well after the levy and lots of local people cheering everyone on calling you “animal animal”. For the most part it was two track most of the way till you got to King Kong then you started the first hike-a-bike. This wasn’t so bad and wasn’t too long and still felt good. After dropping off this mountain to the bottom you had to deal with the dry, dry stream beds that had the loose small rocks that acted like sand. One guy I was behind flopped over right in front of me and I almost ran him over. Next was the trip to the church in the middle of no where. I swear that church was in some old Clint Eastwood movie. Next was the hike-a-bike from hell (Asphyxia). I think it must have been like one mile of pure hiking on a hot day with no signs of shade. Can you say cooking your brain. After getting to the top that’s where the fun started again. There where two corners that were a little tricky but I was forced to stop due to rider backup. After descending, things got really thinned out and only saw a few handful riders the rest of the way back. In fact, there were a few times I thought I was off course but soon would see event staff every mile or so. I ended up coming in 167th out of 2300+ riders. Not too bad for my first year and I’ll be back next year wanting to break into the sub 100.

Whew. That was a fun one. I'm still waiting for a rainy day Chupa when all the little Mexicans start to freeze to death while I don't have to stop to refill with water. Drafting off of Tinker was impossible....he's smaller than Tribebabe and his rear isn't nearly as nice to look at.
I couldn't believe Makastank did it on a SS. I'm sure he was the only one to start on one, but I'll be willing to bet he wasn't the the only one to finish SS. Props to ya hard man.
On my way back past the Christo, people were still heading out. What were they thinking? Nuts.
I've got a full write up of my experience near the front on my blog. I tried to keep it brief.

Made It
My first year back into mountain biking after 10 years. Got to train for about two months and finished this race. It was a great time, great comaradary on the trails, positive vibes everywhere. I wanted to finish in seven hours, but dam, not even close. Came in at 8 hours, but got the finish. I'm wanting one of those jerseys, next year.
Here's the curch right before Asfixia. I was hoping the holy water would help me more than it did...
Here's asfixia... After 48 miles, this wasn't near as fun as I'd hoped.
And finally, going down. The Devil's Decent. Split my leg open last week practicing. This time the only wreck was behind some knob knocker who took a break in the middle of the trail. Shoulda just run over him.
As soon as I can walk again, I'm training for next year. I want that damn jersey!
