The Wonders of Crested Butte, Pt 2. (as always, dial-up beware)

Saturday in Crested Butte. A loosey-goosey plan to meet at Camp 4 Coffee resulted in a rag-tag assemblage of riders for a Paradise Divide/401 ride. Jason and I invited ourselves along for the festivities.

Riding up Slate River Road, a simply stunning morning with excellent mineral colors up in the high country.

Continuing up.....and up.....and up......

A rest stop at the top. We like jam a lot, apparently.

We like our home state.

That there is a Petaluma Salsa.

Near the top, getting ready for the...

...views.

(yes Jason, this is why we ride bikes)

More of the same photos of the same ol' trail. Done to death, I tell you.

And I"m 'green' here looking at those gorgeous pics. Wow. Thanks for sharing.

Many of those pics depict similar scenery you'd see in the southern Chilcotin Mountains here in BC. Another place for you to ride!

Perhaps because we easily have twice as many days of bike-conducive weather? (In a normal year, of course--not our present Noah-esque one.)

But my, my, what a beautiful place to visit in the warm months. Thanks for the pics, Anthony.

I'm with you, crisillo... the countdown has already begun... Thanks for the great shots Anthony! Those shots are "done to death" for a reason: they are gorgeous.

Awesome! But how do you stay upright on those hillsides? Just looking at the pics made me lean to the right...and then what? Can't wait for the tribe gathering, that's going to be great. And I have a whole week to spend out there. Bring it on.

Now if we can just get Yeti to put the details up.

What might the altitude be there?

I remember as a younger man nearly dying skiing near the top of Aspen, and as a sea-level person now (250' up - ocean in view) I think I might slow you down a bit while climbing. Back in 2000? Timmy and Bobcat and Pikabike (hey where are those folks now?) had to wait for me just outside Denver and at Winter park on a climb around the 8+k level. I covet your lungs.

Beautiful shots Anthony, Jim
