The Wonders of Crested Butte

So pretty much the first thing I did on entering the greater metropolis of CB was to quite nearly roll the X coming down Jack's Cabin Cutoff. In my exuberance of arrival I misjudged a washboarded switchback and the back end broke right loose. Only by dint of adrenaline laced counter steering was the day, and weekend, saved. I almost spilled my beer though. Damn.

It was a fine weekend of beer drinking, camping, townies, chainless races, biking, beer drinking and biking.

More soon, consider this a sampler platter.

I'm so totally there in August.

Thanks for the pics Anthony, just when I'm struggling with how to plan some time away from Texas you saved the day.

Cheers,
-ted

'twas a beautiful weekend indeed, good seeing you in CB

sunset at the campsite

this is why we ride, eh?

that magic hour in the colorado high county

it wasn't always a tourism and resort community...the early miners left their mark

if you live in CB this is your view from the bus station parking lot

though at certain times of the year you might also find these hoodlums in the parking lot

the climb from town to 401 via slate river road is long but worth it...the bottom

the top

the descent

Please, please, stop posting these photos. For the last few years I've managed a trip to Crested Butte. This year, I will not. These silly ass pictures DO NOT HELP! Please put an end to it.
