Yeti and Bear sightings at Golden Gate!

Brachiating between seasons...

Despite the constant rain over the last few days, I woke up this morning convinced that it would be a good idea to head up Golden Gate Canyon state park and crank out the big loop.

There was only a dusting of snow, and the trail conditions proved, for the most part, to be eminently rideable.

The weather stayed mild, despite the brooding skies, I got hit with the merest smattering of graupel, and that was it. My Dirt Rag wool jersey kept me warm AND fashionable!

And then it came time to descend Mountain Lion trail. Descending mountain lion is like drinking a Margarita through a crazy straw on a trampoline. It's like giving a dog Pop Rocks. It's like a knife fight with a monkey. It's like necking with an octopus. It's like stinging a bee.

Despite a few speed bumps at creek crossings, it all went, which was both surprising and very, very satisfying.

of course once at the bottom of Mountain Lion you have to climb, climb, climb back up. Which is like getting stung by a bee. Which is like getting clap from an octopus. It's like taking a core sample out of your palate with a margarita filled crazy straw. It's like having to clean up pop rock lladen dog vomit.

And lastly, because I'm a sensitive sort of fellow, here are some flowers..

Nice. I came close to that, but ended up checking out Centennial Cone for the first time. Dry, tacky, smooth, and faaaaast!

Nice stuff, especially the st that really is st. Don't let jenamin see the bears, she loves 'em! And I admit it, I had to look up "brachiating".

Very nice, good to see some real trail food for a change. None of that gel pack or cliff bar junk.

Oh yeh, nice pics.

Great photos, they've made me so envious though as I'm currently out of action after dislocating my finger in a crash last week.

Nice bike and amazing scenery there, that's what it's all about just being out there, thanks for sharing

phuh... That was a relief. I was afraid to open this post because I know what a bear is, I thought I knew where Golden Gate was, and I was afraid to find out what a yeti was while at work. :P

Nice photos, as always! I got some gummy bears to take along with me riding Little Creek yesterday, but left them in the car. They were a good snack on the drive to lunch, though.

Thanks for sharing!
