Barbie Camp - Saturday - Trail 99 group

What a large group. Thirty one riders went on this one. When you have that many people on a ride there's so much disparity between fitness and skill levels and the group gets pretty spread out. Despite the late start and numerous flat tires I think it went well since we did not have any bad injuries and no one got lost. I hope everyone had fun. I did.

I only got eight pics from this long ride, but there were a bunch of cameras there so I'm sure more will be up in a couple of days.

Nice...

...of you folks to share 99 with us wet-siders. It was definitely fun. I especially liked Nat's expression when the group of riders (minus Nat and a couple of enlightened others...) rolled past and them to "hit the trail" only to find out a quarter mile later we had parked right across from the trailhead...their expressions then made sense for some reason.

Even 3 flats (by me alone) couldn't ruin the day. A big, big thanks to Nat for letting me have a patch. I thought I was prepared for the day with two extra tubes and a patch, wrong again jakarse. Can anyone guess what kind of rims I'll be asking SantaMouse for this Festivus? Anyway, 99 was a great trail and filled with at least 31 great folks for a couple of hours this weekend. Thanks all!

Yeah, Thanks to Nat, Mr. Cookie, T-berg, and the other Bend locals who helped us avoid getting lost. It was nice to be able to kick back and enjoy the ride.

Here's some of my pics.

After starting off in the wrong direction (Thanks lee), Nat sets us straight, and we start off with a bit of doubletrack.

Google Earth file

Open the zip file, I think the kmz file will load into google earth to show the gps track overlaid on the map.

D@mn. Looked like fun. Not sure if the pics are giving me vicarious enjoyment or bummin' me out 'cuz I missed it. I feel like the dog in that Far Side cartoon who was inside practicing violin with a forlorn look on his face, while all his doggie buddies are having fun chasing the mailman around the neighborhood. I absolutely HAD to work at the Ducks game on Saturday (responsibility sucks sometimes). Next year, I will sure to tell my group that even if my presence is a make-or-break thing for the group, TOO BAD -- I'm going to Barbie Camp!

I vote for vicarious enjoyment.. That was a good enough ride to have enjoyment to spare even for Duck fans

I'll definitely do that one again, I'd say it would be worth the effort to ride out and do it as a loop consideriing you'd only have to do about 8 miles of pavement for close to 30 of singletrack.

Brock...

Yeah, sorry about the false start. I might've shouted out at everyone but Lee sounded as if he knew where he was going, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt hoping he knew a secret route or something.

No problem on the patch. I'm just glad no one got left behind along the way (hence, my running sweep most of the ride).

Thanks NAT

Great ride! Thanks for putting that one out there for all of us to enjoy. Everyone finished on top their saddles and nobody got lost. That pretty much says a lot about your ride leading skills. The views were the bonus. Thanks again!

Awesome Ride

Great riding with all. I was digging the variety on that ride and couldn't stop smiling even though my teeth were turning brown from dust kicked up by 60 tires.

Very Cool Bob. I Love Google Earth. It's too bad they don't have any high res images of the trail vicinity but the details for the 3 Sisters, and other Cascade volcanoes is better.

I can't get the zip file to work, when I extract it it is a ".kmz" file. Neither myself nor the computer knows what that is.

I'm not sure what type of file a .kmz file is, but I'm guessing it's specific to Google Earth. If you haven't downloaded google earth yet (it's not the same as google maps) than trhat might be your problem. By the way Google Earth is awesome, and lotsa fun to play with, so if you like maps, you gotta download google Earth

Thanks to Nat for organizing this ride, all the drivers, Brandon for returning drivers back to the trailhead, the impromptu firefighters, and everyone who showed up. 'Twas a really good time. Was a great workout for the dualie I'm demoing too. I was having way too much fun to take many photos on Saturday, but here's what I've got.

Orange-Haze coming down the trail:

Sorry for posting this everyone, but someone had to document what Matt subjected us all to on Saturday:

Here's a much more pleasant viewpoint:
