CX trail bike brake help
I use disc brakes on a rigid 700c/29" Sibex titanium five piece fork. I often do very steep descents and over heat the rotor. It is now warped and discolored. I am trying to replace the 160 Avid rotor with a 185 Galfer wave rotor and am having trouble fitting/adjusting the caliper because it is too close to the rotor. Does the taper of the fork legs to the crown makes it unsuitable for a 185mm rotor? Brakes are Avid BB7 road. Ideas? Go back to a 160 rotor just not an Avid?

OT; Are you not afraid descending that aggressive on a Ti fork? I would be.

Perhaps I should be, but I figure some of the top CX racers use them and those guys go hard. I do not do rock gardens or jumps on this bike. I have been using it without issue for six months. I solved the 185 rotor mount problem by filing 1mm off the lower post mount on the adaptor. Now the caliper is vertical and clears the rotor correctly. Finally the brakes work like they should.

FWIW: Called Sibex today, they said go ahead and use the 185 rotor. They have only had five forks break sense 95 and all of them involved running into something or jumping.
