Scam Alert
Recently some users have fallen for a mail order scam, from a site called http://www.bikesarea.com/ aka "Pro Bike".
This is but one of many many scams out there. If you find a site , you should ask around here on MTBR to see if people recommend it.
You will see these scams on ebay also . They always ask you to email them direct and not through ebay, giving you a direct email link in the auction. (Sales@netzero.com) now (bikesorder@netzero.net).
They seem to typically use some escrow service no one has ever heard of, and REFUSE to use escrow.com. Thats a big red flag...
This thread discusses scams in some detail, showing you a site and who it's registered to.
http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=204649
Everyone looks for good deals, but we should use caution and remember 'If it seems to good to be true, it probably is".
New note: Sometimes clicking on a link IN an auction brings you to a "new" ebay sign in page...WATCH OUT, they harvest your ID and PW this way!!!!!!!!!!
