I rode my bike today. Today was a good day.

We headed out to Demo forest to do some riding. As we drove up highway 17, the fog cleared to reveal a perfect day. 70 degrees, with moist, tacky trails.

Derek, Pierre, Rumpfy, Joe and Raymond were there to do a hot lap around Buzzards to Tractor trail.

Joe Woods aka 'Joe Steel'

Pierre aka 'Pierre'

Eric aka 'Rumpfy'

Raymond aka 'Elsaltamontes' and Derek aka 'Bustamove' in blue and green

Me myself and I

Just poseur photos. Sorry, this was a hot lap. We left at 8:40 am and were back by 10 am. The pace was punishing and the jumps were good. Pierre who is recovering from a broken wrist schooled everyone.

So we get back to the lot and there's a couple more people. 16 in total. Here's more poseur shots.

Mike aka 'Mountain Medic'

John

Ivy

Shane aka 'Shanedawg'

Steve aka 'Ddawg'

Rafael

Scott aka 'JorgeMonkey' and Kyle aka K-max

Andy aka 'crashmaster' and Ed aka 'derelict' on the right

Sabine

On the climb up Buzzards, there's a little singletrack detour on the left. Here's some photos:

A little break and regroup at the top and it's time to descend. What's that headcount again?

Ridge trail... this is Demo forest at it's finest. Very difficult to photograph but you get the picture. As I mentioned, conditions were perfect. No dust and velcro-traction

The action was good and the Sabine's cross bike was jammin.

Pierre was exceptionally hard to photograph. The 15-year old wunderkid is too fast and jumps too high. He can't climb though. Ah wait a minute, he schooled all of us on the climb too.

And now for some hotttt action. The start of Saw Pit trail features three log jumps. Here is the middle one.

Then there is the technical rocky part in the middle of Saw Pit. There's a bunch more stuff not photographed. This makes Saw Pit better than Braille or Tractor!

So we get back to the lot and have a bigass house party. We eat, we drink and we heckle all who take life too seriously.

Ed aka 'derelict' had one too many unfortunately... Medic!

Epilogue:

So today was a good day.

I get back home and my kids are as happy as can be. Here they are showing me their new bike tricks.

I take a nap and go to my Mom's birthday party. Here's my kids with my folks.

And the best part... my wife looks at me on the drive home and says "You riding tomorrow??" Ha, ha. I liked that she asked. No, no honey. I'm buying you some jewelry!

All photos were taken with a Canon G6 camera and a 420EX external flash.

If any of you homies want full-res files of the photos, just let me know.

Demo is a great place to ride, but worst place possible to get good pics. The fast action and dark light make it impossible.

But you managed. Great pics. Good Ride. Wish I was there. Would've come but been busy this week.

And gotta save my time for responding to Pete. Now where's that PPV deal?

Actually these pics were from last year. You didn't miss much yesterday. The conditions were horrid and there were rangers giving tickets everywhere.

No, this frame is a Santa Cruz Chameleon. He's now a member of their Junior X team.

The frame he's welding has a couple of problems. Plus his teacher uno-pete is living in Japan now. So I don't know if that frame will see the light of day.

No problem, Andy. Richelle and I had a great ride in Santa Teresa yesterday. Hit all the good singletrack with nice weather and then scoped out all the nice front yard stonework through the neighborhood to steal ideas for our backyard. Maybe I can make it up your way this coming weekend...

Rocking photos!

Nice shots, Francis. A good flash, fast lens and accurate panning seems to be the secret. That was a great day! Good riding and better socializing. It's great to see so many people join these rides. Just goes to show how many people are out there doing their own thing. Looking forward to AweBurn.
