That was the Monashees not the Kootenays...even though it was Kootenay Lake and Kootenay River...
Good news is you still have the Selkirks and the Kootenays left to ride.

Semantics....west kootenays works for most people.
Yeah, thats the great thing...so many places and trails in BC....love it.

Kotenay is the region.
The Monashees, Selkirks, Purcells, Kokanees, etc are mountain ranges within the Kootenay region.

There's a bit of confusion, as there's some geographers that refer to parts of the Canadian Rockies as the Kootenay Ranges, but for the most part no-one uses that designation.
