Best Coffee for a Hangover in the Front Range?
I used to only drink cheap coffee, then I got a machine at home that grinds beans and at work I have a french press. Now I drink the expensive stuff but I drink it straight, no sugar or cream.
I've become a fan of dark roasted types. Totally Wired up in Winter Park is one of my favorites.

Black and strong is the goods. Other than that, I'm not too picky.

Black Diner coffee. Any Diner will do. Denver diner has some motor oil they will serve you alongside a chicken-fried steak. Serious Anti-Hangover medicine.

As far as the AeroPress goes, I only have one thing to say:
Boiling water + Plastic = Bad
And to make matters worse, the inventor of the Aero has admitted to using the toxic hormone disrupter BPA in his press. He can claim it's safe all day long, but there is a reason why all the water bottle manufacturers ditched BPA like a bad habit, and have even gone so far as to mark the bottles themselves as being "BPA-Free".
But maybe that's just me being overly safe, I just don't trust plastic for anything related to highly heated drink or food that will go into my body.
I'll stick with my Frieling stainless double wall. It's not cheap, but it's safe (no plastic), more enviro friendly (no plastic, no disposable filters), keeps coffee hot until the second cup, and should outlast me.

I've gotten so used to black coffee I even leave it straight at gas stations now too. However, the beverage that people pass off as coffee in our break room that I have to drink when I run out at my desk needs cream and sugar. It helps mask out the burnt glass not been cleaned for a month with chunks of residue flavor. I don't really consider it coffee, its more like a bad tasting caffeinated beverage, kinda like those over priced Starbucks drinks.

Intersting deal--it looks like a Vietnamese coffee maker for people who can't wait for the traditional model to drip through. Why is it better than a French Press in your opinion?

Whole Foods Colombian Roast. French Roast is also nice but a shade to intense for me.

Wow. The beer tastes on thsi forum are very evolved...coffee...not so much.
Ithnu, try anything from Novo. Read the descriptions and pick a flavor you might like. Ojo de Agua is a good place to start.
Or if you are ever down by DU, check out Kaladi coffee. Go in and strike up a conversation with some of the most passionate coffee freaks you'll ever encounter. Cannot miss with their coffee.
In C Springs, Boulder St Coffee is amazing, you just have to wade through the freaks and cig butts on the way in. I pick a pound there almost every trip down.
And finally, in a month or so you should be able to drop by Salvagetti for some of the best coffee you will ever drink...ever. Really, ever.

Nice to know, that's in my neck of the woods - but then again, I'm on decaf now. It's been 6 months and counting.

Another vote for Rocky Mountain Roastery, Wade has some amazingly good stuff, ask if anything special is available. Lat Year's El Salvador was fantastic. As with some other shops, when people combine good coffee with bikes...

When I'm brewing my own I buy Seattles Best, at King Soopers. My sister and I went to one of their shops in Seattle a few years ago and its vibe was 180 degrees opposite from Starbucks (I know, Starbucks has bought out Seattles Best but still...).
When I'm feeling "plush" I brew this (you know the jingle: "The best part of waking up...is some Puuuuuush in your life"):

Double Espresso. Everything else is watery and weak.
They have a Turkish coffee at Sahara's that could be mistaken for petroleum based. It washes down the Baklava nicely.

Psyched! I work in the area so you may see me even more often. You gonna have a few really hot (female) baristas who make a killer flat-white? Maybe a bottle of baileys and jame-o hidden behind the workbench?

I'm a big fan of Noa Noa Coffee (a couple of doors down from Ali Baba's in Golden). They sell nice non-overroasted beans from the Coffee Syndicate in Boulder- I'm hooked on their Sumatra.

Allright, help me out here... Noa Noa has good coffee, but they don't move with a purpose. I go in there on my way to work and it can take 5-10 minutes to get a cup of joe - c'mon!!! I gotta have my joe! That whole brew to order thing is novel, but when I get behind someone with their half-caff skinny latte and someone else getting some kind of chai AND theres' only one guy working???? NAHHHHH
So I've resorted to brewing at home. Occasionally I stop by Starbucks (only b/c I don't want to wait around at Noa Noa).
I'm all for independent/local coffee shops, but apparently I'm impatient when I need my morning coffee

Buy a bag of coffee from Umpire Estate Roasters in Colorado Springs. Fresh roasted and low acidity - makes for a smooth cup of home brewed coffee. They'll make you a darn good cappucino in the store, too. I'm hooked, and try to stop by when I am in the Springs. Love the Tanzanian peaberry beans, or their "Idle Truck" label.
They're on Fillmore, I think just east of Nevada (forgive me if I'm off on directions, I'm still learning my way around town). No freaks or cig butts that I've seen

“It is inhumane, in my opinion, to force people who have a genuine medical need for coffee to wait in line behind people who apparently view it as some kind of recreational activity.”
-Dave Barry
All I know is that if I have to wait for a straight cup of coffee I'll never make the mistake of going there again.

Only true wussies use anything that strains the grounds. Amantes? BAH! Get a Turkish coffee pot (ibrik), dump equal amounts grounds and sugar, then let it boil up four or five times. Taste what it's like to drink real coffee.

I hear you... I don't think I'd stop by there when I'm in a hurry (they really need a "drop a buck in a jar, get a cup to go" thing), so I stop by on the weekend and get a pound of beans and set up my coffee pot to bew 15 minutes before I wake up.

Moab Coffee Rocks!
Fiery Furnace coffee from the Arches Book Company in Moab is roasted fresh every morning. The Sumatra is simply perfect.
Then there is another roaster who used to be at Arches Book Company who now supplies Red Rock Bakery and a couple other places that goes by FMC (Fresh Moab Coffee). Awesome.
Wicked Brew is just a little shack on the edge of downtown, but they always have great stuff, too.
Name anywhere on the front range where you can get this much great coffee within a span of 500 feet as you can in Moab. It is hard to choose between them.

I grind with a Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder, drip through a cone filter and usually get beans from Lion Coffee or Paradise Roasters. I drink my coffee black and have never liked flavored coffee, but Lyon has Vanilla Macadamia beans that are amazingly tasty. Their Kona Peaberry is also excellent.
If you're looking for local beans, Ice House Cafe in Evergreen does a nice job.
In a pinch, I'll take McDonald's coffee over Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts
