Hardwood Hills still good for riding?

I have this Friday off. I was wondering if Hardwood Hill has removed all their signs... Although I've ridden there for many years, I only go 3 times a season and hardly have the trails memorized.

I went last year on remembrance day, and while it was open, the signage was definitely removed. However, at that this time last year there was already a substantial amount of snow on the ground. If I remember correctly, after the start of Nov, they take all the signs down, so you'd probably have to do it by memory and just go exploring if you don't know the trails well enough.

Most of the signs are down as of Sunday. Most of the trails are carpeted in leaves, making it a challenge to know where to go. The little bit of pine forest is still good.

On another note, it took them forever last year to put up the XC ski trail signs back up. With the new layout and all, I was beginning to wonder if they'd decided not to keep the old trail names.

And on another note, I took the cross bike on Gnarly for some fun.....big mistake. Couldn't see the large roots, drop offs, and rocks under the leaves. Is there such a thing as vibration bruises?? However, Serious and Cranked was O.K. on the cross bike as long as you didn't mind missing a turn once in a while from leaf carpet blindness.

Riding some mtb trails on my CX bike this past weekend, left my poor wrists/arms sooooo sore the next day. I suppose drop levers + using a lot of force on downhills to get the canti's to slow me down enough, took its toll!

I hear ya! The effort of hard braking on the CX bike causes me more pain than the vibrations from rocks and roots.

@Ricksom - even without the leaves Gnarly on a cross bike sounds like a recipe for disaster, at least for me! Of course I had the same problem at Hilton Falls last weekend even with the full-suspension bike. Bent Rim with a foot of leaves down...

The problem I'd been running into was hand cramps from braking from the hoods (a lot ) during races. As with any other muscles, those seemed to need the exercise too!

I used to like Hardwood when they were underground, but they have like, totally sold out with this Pan-Am games thing.

I know, but I was already there and had only one bike. What was I to do! Plus, I got lost while following Serious......landed on Gnarly and couldn't escape!

What?? Hardwood hasn't been underground for years (if it ever was) How did they "sell out" for the Pan Am games?

Sorry I probably should have used a smiley to denote the tongue in cheek nature of that statement

O.K., I give up. I didn't see Tom in your release of identities.
