Got NOS GF Rig... good deal?
Hi, first time poster...
Just bought a new old stock 2006 Gary Fisher Rig at my LBS... paid $720.00
Everything looks new except few scuff marks on brake levers..
I had them put it on a scale and it weighs 26.0 lbs. even with the stock Shimano PD.
What do you guys think? Was this a good deal...?

You should be riding that bike instead of second-guessing your purchase.
But yes, a very nice deal.

Not bad biggest differences are G1 vs G2 geometry and a Reba fork vs a Fox but the Fox equipped versions were a little more expensive. Not a super great price considering the age of the bike and that it wasn't much more than that in 2006.

if its NOS you should still have the frame warranty valid on that...good deal IMO...ride it..if it breaks, you will get a current year frame. Enjoy!

This is not exactly correct.
However, at $720, if you're the original owner from the LBS and retain a warranty, I think you did very well.
Differences in old-rig and current rig are: everything - ie, nothing was left unchanged
*totally new frame
*new geometry, G2
*Fox fork vs Reba
*new Wheels- tubeless now
I suppose they are similar in that they both have Avid Mechanical brakes and Bontrager-branded hardware, and share the same name.
----
Again though: that RIG is a great bike. The frame was "updated" from the original ones - namely it was reinforced to prevent cracking. So bottomline: you got a great deal on a great bike with a warranty as the original owner. Nothing at all wrong with it. Chicks will dig it at the trailhead.

Thanks for making me feel good about my purchase. Yes, I'm the first owner and the shop told me all of the warranty, service plan, etc. still applies.
This is my first 29er SS so I'm really excited and can't wait to taker her out on the trail!

The rig is a great bike. I loved the handling on my '07. Enjoy it.
