Best Hard Ciders (Apple)?
Well, the title says it all. I just discovered a hard apple cider, and it was very nice. It was maybe not quite as apple-y as I would have liked, however.
What are some great ciders out there? I definitely want a nice fruity apple taste, that packs an alcoholic punch! But not artificially fruity, if you know what I mean.
No pear, cherry, or other fruit rec's please. Let's stick to apple.

Make your own, its very easy and taste better than anything you can buy. Its best if you can find fresh pressed cider with no preservatives. Its very rare, but if you can get non-pasteurized cider, the natural yeasts in the skins of apples will ferment the cider on its own. Since most cider is pasteurized, I like Champagne yeasts for cider.
For store brand hard cider, I like Strongbow and Spire Mountain...the worst is Hornsby's

yup, i buy gallons of pure cider from the local orchard. they come in the plastic milk containers. after a few weeks in the frig when the container swells up and is about to explode- HAPPY TIME!
i should bottle a few gallons and add champagne yeast. maybe it would make my mother in law settle the **** down this thanksgiving... and i'm sure my father in law would love it!

strongbow sucks!
get magner's and don't forget to send me a thank you note for xmas
it's not as dry, doesn't taste as sweet, just tastes like apple, and has way less aftertaste.
it's like the difference between riding a fine 853 reynolds frame compared to a straight gauge frame with "laser arc welding technique" sticker on the downtube.
EDIT: I'm just talking about store-buyable stuff, you mountain men with your basement stills not included in my comments, sounds like fun though!

not a big cider fan, but i've liked Ace's Hard Ciders. maybe because they're local, but i've had some there that were pretty refreshing.
