Wheelset Recommendation - El Mariachi - Big Guy

Hey there. I want to have a second set of wheels for my baby (08 El Mariachi).

I'd love to hear what you are running, etc. I'm a big guy - 240 right now) - but don't do drops etc.

I could either use the stock wheels (semi's with xt hubs) as my trail set or my road set.

I have Schwalbe Big Apples for road use and love them.

Any info would be awesome! Thanks!

One word- "Gordo"

Love mine on the Mariachi, and I'm not a big guy.

Excellent in the snow too.

I haven't had any problem with my mikesee make Flows. Been running straight and true for over a year now. (~4 foot drops max)

Lace up some Flows. If you're on a budget, then pick up a set of WTB prebuilt wheels.

Warning - if you plan to swap wheels for road / offroad, then you need to use the same rear hub, or at least be able to adjust the axle so the cassette is in the same spot. If the spacing doesn't match up, then you will have to adjust the shifting every time you make a change. If they match up, then you can just swap and ride.

Gordos or Flows. Sounds like Gordos would be the best choice for you though. I have both Gordos & Flows laced to Hope Pro 2s w/DT Swiss Comps.

I love them big time

I have a set of Arch's and have had them since I was 200lbs. I have never bent them subtantially, but did have to true them more then I would have liked.
At your size, I would get something a bit more substantial like has been recommended. Flows or Gordos would be great.

I have seen Flow/Hope sets for good price

I think the trend you see here is laced wheels as opposed to factory
