Oh yeah, Rotorua/Rotovegas rocks and the trails flow like honey - www.riderotorua.com for info on the place and the trails plus a lot more about SSWC10 on Rotorua Singlespeed Society page. That's who is running it - the RSSS (say it out loud!).
We are all refugees from the 2006 UCI Worlds here...
Dates (sort of) will hopefully be on www.sswc10nz.com sometime in next 24 hours. Plus you will be able to subscribe to our database - already 500 plus!
USD, Euro etc is mighty strong against Kiwi $$ so keep that in mind.
The plan is any1 who wants to, gets to ride.
Rules:
1) 1 gear
2) no lycra*
(* exceptions will be made for lycra in the form of speedos, borat man-kinis etc but you know the lycra we mean)....

Yep, it's a long way for us to come to USA and Europe to ride or for events - though we do...
These ain't the World Series of America or Superbowl World Championships of the USA, these are the Singlespeed WORLDS!, amigo...
Funny story: we were up for SSWC08 in Napa. NZ-SF-NZ with two big bike boxes - zero tariff.
Damage for flying over to Nevada and back to SF to ride in Utah - $150USD/bike (c. $230 in our 3rd world currency)...

I had the wife talked in to this until I checked on prices for the flights. Maybe next year.

New Zealand is f_n gorgeous. Active volcanoes, totally plush and center Earth, what a perfect host for SSWC. You organizers have a lot on your shoulders now!

Latest SSWC10 news:
It is 1 year till the Singlespeed Worlds (long) weekend in Rotorua...
Check out Rotorua Singlespeed Society President Gaz's new video of the week at www.sswc10nz.com and register for email updates - be 1st to get the info when entries open.
You can also hook up with our travel guru...
And we have gone a bit high tech - with a facebook page.
This will be the main information singletrack till our website goes live soon...

• There is a big weekend coming up in Australia...
The Aussie SS Nationals are on November 28 & 29 and entries are open now at www.twentysixinches.com/ssnats...spread the word.

• Don't forget that before the Worlds, there is the perfect tune-up for Kiwi riders (with some Aussies threatening to crash the party)...
Entries for the 2010 New Zealand SS Champs on April 24 are open on the Queenstown MTB Club web site - www.qmtbc.co.nz
Get entering!!

• Latest news: Ron King rode in the 08 and 09 NZ Singlespeed Champs (in fishnets in 08 and as the "Masked Marauder" this year). He also did the recent Whaka 100 in Rotorua on a singlespeed cyclocross bike.
He'll be here for the Worlds in 12 months. However, before then he's set himself a serious challenge: riding the length of New Zealand (2100 kilometres) as part of the Heart Foundation's "Great Ride for Heart 2010" - on a fixie!
Ron will be part of a team aiming "to boost awareness of heart disease prevention and help raise $1 million for the Heart Foundation's Cardiovascular Research Fund."
A great cause...
The RSSS has made a donation to help get the ball rolling and you can, too.
Read more about Ron's big adventure (including a vivid description of what riding a fixie means) and make a donation on his page: https://www.heartracer.org.nz/RonKing/
The ride won't be coming through Rotovegas, but we hope to organize a support team for a leg early in February next year - we'll keep you posted.

• Haere mai, welcome to all our friends from round the world - we look forward to seeing you in 12 months in our place - Rotorua, in the heartland of NZ's North Island...
Get the word out, forward this email...
