Downhill race in Mexican cloud forest - 22nd March 2009

DOWNHILL XALAPA, MEXICO

Come and race in the first downhill race to ever be staged in the mountainous state of Veracruz, Mexico.

We've been trail building frantically over the past few months to bring Mexico what we believe to be its longest downhill course, at just over 4 kilometers in length... Thatīs about 7 minutes if you're absolutely pelting it. Starting in the mountain village of "Mesa de la Yerba", against the backdrop of the 4300 metre high Cofre de Perote, you descend through pine forest with views reaching so far you can sometimes see the sea in the gulf of Mexico. As you head down the hill you'll notice the scenery changes to cloud forest before finally jumping through the finish line.

And anyway, why am I talking so much about the scenery? Surely what you want to hear is that the course is one seriously fun DH track - big jumps, a 2.5meter drop off, berms, gap jumps, crazy natural sections... itīs a beauty. Donīt just believe me - have a look at the video on http://www.tu.tv/videos/pista-arana-...ownhill-xalapa or email me for photos.

If you want to make a holiday of this event, we can provide mountain bike tours that will take you down the areaīs best singletrack - such as the seemingly never ending ones that start at the top of the local 4300 metre high beast. The area also offers some of the world's best white water rafting, ancient ruins, virgin beaches, cracking nightlife and what is basically the REAL Mexico.

For details of any of the above, just contact me here or email teebarn@hotmail.com or learningtoursmexico@hotmail.com
