JHK Races 29er

Hey, haven't posted in a while, been trav'lin alot. Here is a pic of Jeremy racing his 29er at the Norba National in Deer Valley, UT in the short track. This was the first time he raced it. He finished 2nd to Kabush. He reported the bike was perfect for the course- rough down hill, not too steep uphills. Maybe we'll see it used more now.

Later,
Matt

Well how 'bout that? He doesn't look like he is riding a child's bike anymore. Nice pic find.

2 X 9 question

If you don't mind my asking, what is the chainring combo on the crankset? 42 X ? The granny looks tiny! Tires tubless?

Thanks for the pic. Good to see JHK trying out the 29"er in race conditions.

Yes, it is good to see him racing it. His crank is a Bontrager Race X Lite with a custom spider that uses 130mm bp outer and a 74mm bp inner. We have a 40 x 26 on it. Wheels are tubless with Bonty XR 1.8's (2 fronts).

Pic is courtesy of our other mechanic Brett Batchelder.

Matt,
When he uses 2 fronts, is he running the front tire in the reverse direction on the rear? That is how alot of guys do it here. I just wandered if this is what he is doing.
