    upside down fox float rpl?

i just bought a fox float rpl and the air valve hits the rocker arm on my bike when its in the 5" travel position. i can just keep it in the 4" position or get a monarch (which i don't want to do).
it was suggested to me that i could just flip the float upside down so that the valve won't hit. obviously, i'd have to switch the spacers, but seems kinda like a good idea. does anyone know of any reasons why this might be a bad idea?
