Iím looking for an ultra thin top headset dust cap. ĖPossibly homemade.
I'm trying to fit a 2013 Lefty Carbon to my 2013 S-Works Stumpjumper Small and I'm having a problem with the stack height.
If your short and you have a 29er than you need your stem as low as possible for CX, so Iím trying to run the stem under the top crown. If the stem is above the top crown then the handle bar height is to high.
The distance between the top and bottom of the Lefty crown is measured at 138 mm and it is not adjustable, but with my stack height I need 144 mm, so somehow I need to lower my stack height 6 mm.
The stem is a Ritchey at 42 mm stack hight, but Iím wondering it there is an ultra thin headset dust seal. I notice if I eliminate the dust seal that it might barely fit. The headset bearings are integrated, I could run with no dust seal, but that would obviously be bad for the frame and the headset bearings. My best Idea I had is make a dust seal out of a plastic food container, by cutting a hole in it and heat shaping it to drape over the bearings.
They do make a Lefty with more top to lower crown spacing, and that would fit, but it would require more spacing and more lefty than I need.
