    Talas to Float conversion
I have a 2012 talas 150 that im thinking about getting converted to a float 150.

I never use the adjustment on the talas and have heard that the float is a smoother fork.

Has anyone done a conversion and how does the fork perform afterward? Is it worth the 250ish to have it done or would I be better off buying a Float 150?

The float system is generally plusher and overall gives a better ride. With that said, it should not cost $250 to go to the Float. Closer to $100. It is a very easy mod that you can do at home. Fox will also sell you the parts directly.

I just double checked and its actually 225, and includes a complete rebuild.

    Why wait?
You'll have a real Float after Fox does the swap and service for you.
When it is done, you'll have a fork that feels smoother throughout the entire stroke with better small bump compliance.
If you do the swap yourself you can do it for $100+. You can do a basic service of the fork yourself for about $40. The damper service is where things get tricky if you haven't done it before and don't have proper tools.
The full rebuild from Fox can be a good deal since it includes damper service along with full seal service and fluid change.
$225 is a very fair deal for the conversion, seal, fluid, and damper service if you aren't going to do the work yourself.

Oh. For a complete rebuild, that seems about right.

Why not just do the work yourself? It's easy.

Is the weight saving the same as the two different models?

Yes, converting from a Talas to a Float will save you weight.

just had it done on my talas 120/160, the front end feels more nimble (something like a 0.2lb weight difference), and the fork is way more active, pretty sweet upgrade

Hey Darnelli, how much did the conversion cost ya. I'm considering swapping mine over also.
