    Shock upgrade, possible clearance issues?

I have a 2009 Slayer SXC 50 that is used mostly "all mountain". I had the stock rp23 serviced about 6 months and 40 rides ago and it has a blown damper, again.

I want to upgrade to something more reliable, or at least something I can service, but I seem to remember that there may be clearance issues with some shocks.

Can anyone confirm whether a CCDB Air will fit in there? Are there any other options I should be looking at?

BTW, I am 175lbs and typically have to have my Fox at about 180-200lbs pressure to not bottom it with the way I ride.

You can service an RP23......most times it is just a bad seal on the air can.....takes about 1/2 hour the first time you do it.

The carbon is way more durable than most people.

Thanks for the quick reply. I would happily service the air sleeve if I thought that was the problem.

The shock holds pressure just fine right now. It left two 10" puddles in my garage as the bike sat after the last rides. There is nowhere near that quantity of float fluid in this shock when properly lubricated. It now blows through travel and barely has any dampening to speak of.

I am pretty sure the damper is blown.

Mtnbikej: Do you still think it could be the air sleeve? I appreciate any input you have.

Personally I run a Monarch, and RS sells a complete service kit.

Not sure what Fox does beyond air service kit for the consumer without having to send it in.
