Second hand xc-fork. 05 Marathon SL vs 06 Recon solo air

I'm in the process of reviving an old xc bike on a budget. Need to replace the abysmal RS Pilot C with something air sprung.

While browsing classifieds I've come across the two candidates mentioned. The Marathon is lighter and has more adjustability while the Recon is slightly beefier with 32 mm stanchions.

Is the 2005 TST damping system to be trusted? I seem to recall stuff about punctured rubber lungs which makes me a bit wary.

    Any input is greatly appreciated
    /Johan

Does the particular Recon have Motion Control?

Yup. I'm only considering the ones with MoCo.

I rode a coil sprung Recon 351 U-turn for over a year and liked it a lot. That one is now handed on to my son.

So the question really is if realiability of the MZ Marathon is comparable.

On my bigger bike I have a Z1 Light with RC2 damping. That thing is unbreakable

    Cheers

I'd get the Recon. Reliable, stiff, and easy to service.

    Thanks for your input.
    I'm leaning towards the Recon.
