If I set the rebound full to fast (rabbit side), I can give the adjuster several full turns before any difference is noticeable in rebound speed, then the next half a turn will put the fork on full slow rebound (turtle side), still with another 2 or 3 full turns available.
It's making it pretty difficult to get the fork not feeling rubbish to ride!
So any idea what the problem is?.... I'm guessing low damping oil levels? A heads up would be useful before I pull them apart tomorrow!
I just came from a ride on a techy trail and am fed up w/ my suspension as well, just rode like garbage. Really not liking RS right now, I know its budget but wow
I'm not disliking them at all- theyre great forks in my opinion. Reliable (first problem since 09), great performance, adjustability, stiff, and a doddle to service. And budget?! If you're riding darts then I understand, but even their lower priced Tora's perform well!
Anyway, back to the topic!
Just changed the damper oil. Was definatly dirty, but no difference in rebound.
I did change the lowers from revelations QR to pike 20mm a few weeks ago. Not sure if that should make any difference to this problem though....
For mine, it seems like there may be some form of blockage, even combined with low oil (which would explain the 'turns with no apparent effect')
I would be looking to have them looked at to check oil levels and for any contaminants in said oil.
The fact that you've done some work on them just recently would point to something not being 100% either with the work, or with cross-lower compatibility.
greasemeat - have you had your forks/shock serviced recently/at all. This would seem like the first logical step for you. A poor/out of spec performing fork will be bad for the rider regardless of brand.
Yeah, I know they are bargain basement level, not anything like their good stuff, but still, what a difference. I thought it would be fine & I could save some cash on a cheapie while I save for something nice, but this is just not fun to ride. I agree I think it's time to take them in. Will report back if there's a noticeable improvement.
