    your suggestions are extremely appreciated. i just ride trails...up and back down sort of thing. bike is older Raliegh m80 with a manitou six fork on it...that barely absorbs anything. thinking new cheaper end fork to get me by until new bike.

    I'd go with the xc32. It has aluminum stanchions, hence lighter and probably you could slap a better damper.
