Replacement fork for '04 Rockshox SID Team fork (disc compatible)

Riding an old carbon 2004 Trek Fuel 98. Love the bike but would like to replace the fork with something more current (still serviceable) that wouldn't change how the bike would handle too much. Would anyone be able to offer info on such or change or a fork(s) recommendation.

I'm not quite up to speed and the latest tech when it comes to suspension. Ride cross country with some mild technical sections thrown in. Not looking for the lightest/latest/greatest fork just something that'd be reliable and compatible with the current bike. Price range is open.

Current fork and headset specs are below

RockShox SID Team -- 80mm travel, 451 mm axle-crown length
    Headset -- 25.4/34.0/30.0, 27.2mm stack height

I greatly appreciate any info and wisdom others could offer.

    Thanks for reading!

    Fox Float
    RS Reba or SID
    Manitou Minute Pro, Expert

Minute Expert would be the bang-for-buck choice, but is over 4lbs.

Been without my bike over 2 weeks now since buying 2013 minute pro's new from winstanleys in uk , then finding them to be out one side by 3mm, throwing the wheel way off to the brake side. Sent them back hoping for replacement, , 10 days later am told will be going back to manufacturer for repair, new lowers required. Askedvabout refundborvreplacement......silencio......Long wait, not happy, wish had gone with rockshocks. How many minutes in 2 weeks? None in mine. Grrrrrrr.

Lucky you didn't buy Rockshox fork a couple of years ago.

Maybe we're the ones that are lucky you didn't buy Rockshox fork a couple of years ago, I'd hate to imagine how many threads you would of bumped with the same complaint.
