Rear shock lockout run off front shifter

On a 1x11 set up, is it possible to run the rear shock lockout off of the front derailleur shifter? I can imagine you can adjust the throw by cable tension. Everything on the right side is bugging me so I just had a thought about putting the other XO gripshit back on and running it to the rear lockout on my Fox RP2. Cleaner look on the bars.

    Thoughts?

Is this for the propedal switch?

In theory, any cable actuation can be controlled by a shifter if the shock has a method of returning the lever (ie. a spring), but will it have the correct travel length, and will you be able to use the stock cable mounts (differnt outside diameter of cable tube?) Before anything else, i'd measure how much cable movement you get with the FD shifter vs. the thumb switch. The obvious question, why not move the thumb switch to the left side?

Thanks Watts for the response. Please tell me if I am missing something but if I move the thumb switch over to the left side, won't I have to flip it upside down? Here is the shock and remote switch.

Thought the cable came straight back/down. You could still put it on the left for a trial run, but you'll just turn it upside down. You'd end up pushing forward on it instead of down. Worth a shot for a trial run.
