    Pike 454 noise

I recently bought a used Pike 454 coil, which the previous owner never serviced. Thinking it was high time for some maintenance, I took it all apart, cleaned it, re-greased everything, and put new oil in the stanchions. Now it has noticeably less stiction and everything seems to work great. I had one question though. Is it normal to hear a slight sliding/rubbing sound inside the stanchions when it's compressed? It's not squeaky or anything, just a rubbing sound. Do I just need more grease on the spring? Is it the seals? Nothing to worry about? It's my first actual fork besides the Suntour that came stock on my bike, which also makes the same noise, so I didn't know if it's a sound all forks make or not. Any help would be appreciated.

Probably just the new oil moving through the damper if it's a squishing sound. Keep and eye and feel on it.

It's definitely not the damper, I know what that sounds like. Should have mentioned it, the noise comes from the left stanchion which has the coil in it. Any other suggestions?

Is the coil wrapped in a plastic sleeve?
Unscrew the top of the coil and compress it, does the noise still exist?
Could just be the coil sliding against the stanchion.
My Lyrik knocks like crazy as the coil hits the stanchion, I don't have the coil wrapped.
My Pike coil was always wrapped and never made that sound.

If there is no shrink wrap on the coil, it will rub on the inner stanchion.
