    Noisy Van R

I got an 07 Kona Stinky frame secondhand this winter, and it came with a Fox Van R shock. On the last ride, it started making a loud sucking sound on rebound- I've never noticed it before.

For anyone else who's used this shock, is this normal or is it time to get it serviced?

    Thanks

It will be air sucked into the oil past the main seal. A service will fix it.

Higher nitrogen pressure in the floating piston can prevent it, but causes more seal friction.
I run lower pressure and live with servicing the shock a little more frequently.
