MZ all moutain 1 vs. all mountain2

I was planning on getting an all mountain 1 but I see that there is a price difference between the 1 and the 2,

so I was wondering if there are any significative diferences between the two of them

    Thanks.

The damper is different. The All Mountain 2 is fairly primitive. High speed trail performance is poor compared to All Mountain 1 and you don't have the compression adjustments of the TST.

If a thing such as "the guardian angel of mountainbiking" existed that would have to be you MK, allways willing to help out ignorant newbee's like me.

It's great to have you around.

Talking about am1 color, thats probably one of the reasons that made me think of gettin' th am2 version, the color is kinda ....

I've also seen some 05 am 1 forks advertised on EBAY, would the be real? or just some am 2's with am 1 stickers?

Thanks man, it really makes me happy to hear your kind words.

As of the color, that yellow actually looks good one some frames, and is the kind of color that grows on ya after some time, but indeed, it is sort of ugly.

Concerning your last sentence, I assume you mean that you've seen some black AM1s from 05 on Ebay? If so, then yes, they are real. They've been sold in black in Canda and in Europe, some made it to USA in very limited quantities, towards the end of the year after the nearly unanimous detest of the earwax tappioca color by the consumers.

Hehe. Well, according to Down Shift Cycles website (http://www.downshiftcycles.com/) June marks the beginning of Marzocchi closeouts. They should have excellent prices. Another excellent shop, price-wise is the Pedal Shops (www.pedalshop.com). Also, Larry at Mountain High Cyclery (www.mtnhighcyclery.com) beats most everyone's prices.

Word to the wise, there is also now a fork called the AM1 - This is NOT the same as an All Mountain 1.

    2006 AM1
Black (looks like the 2005 crown)
    130mm
    IS brake mounts
    Air Springs
    Adjustable Alloy Piston Rod Damping
    Steel steerer tube
    ETA (top)
    External Rebound Adjuster (bottom)
    External Air Preload
    NO TAS
    NO TST

    2006 All Mountain 1
    Black
    130-150 mm
    Post Mount Brake mounts
Left leg coil spring, right air spring
Dual hydraulic compression and rebound damping
    Open Bath lubrication
    Alloy Steerer tube
    External Air Preload
5-Position TST bladder system for compression & lock-up
    External Rebound Adjuster (bottom)
    ETA (top)
TAS from 130 to 150 mm (bottom)

Not sure on the ride, but it's way cheaper and fully air sprung so I'd guess the ride is significantly less refined.

You are starting to see used 2006 All Mountain 1's for sale. I picked one up for a steal on eBay

I plan on painting mine black. I purchased some POR-15 Chassis Black paint and got a replacement set of stickers from Marz. The POR product is absolutly bullet proof and will be a tougher finish than anything else available, even powder coating. Now all I need is a couple of days of no riding to pull the lowers an paint 'em.

AFWIW the baby poop yellow color (Desert Storm Tan) is not that bad,, it kinda grows on you, and the way that shock performs I wouldn't care if was stinkin' purple with green trim. ,, but I'm still painting.

Why would they put out on the market two very diferent products with extremely similar names, would they be trying to confuse somebody?

What matters is the performance of the fork isnt it?

Good question. Maybe they had a surplus of magnesium castings from 05 together with drop off upper assemblies. Threw together a cheap damper, MZ cheap, and are riding off the fame of the All Mountain. Boggles my mind.
