Seal sweller is actually quite rare these days.

I haven't even seen it on motorcycle fork oil bottles like I used to. I've been using motorcycle fork oils in all my bicycle forks for awhile now with equal results to the bicycle specific oils. Maybe seal technology and materials have improved? I suspect that some internal seals in suspension components, engines, transmissions, etc. don't like their seals to swell and produce drag even though it was acceptable on many motorcycle fork seals.

Motorex is OEM in Manitou forks, so no seal sweller.

Kinda make's one wonder what exactly that means. What, they put Oil of Olay in it?

What about things like detergents (still used in engine and transmission oils?) - is there a way to REALLY find out? It seems that manufacturer's seem to leave out details like this. Proprietary secrets? Not to say that we, the consumer, know better, but given differing applications....

    , too.
